Eight Residents of Charlestown Inducted into Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame

CATONSVILLE, MD---They've helped raise funds for veterans' organizations and student scholarships.  They've visited hospitals to offer comfort.  They've worked on projects to protect the environment.  And they're never too busy to lend a helping hand.
A lifetime compilation of service to others was recognized as eight (8) residents of Charlestown retirement community received induction into the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.  The awards luncheon occurred on October 18th at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie.

All told, the Class of 2012 is comprised of forty-two (42) citizens from across the state. 
"All of Charlestown is proud of the accomplishments of these talented residents," stated Clara Parker, Executive Director.  "They not only share their time and energy at our campus but also in the surrounding community, strengthening Catonsville and beyond.  They consistently put the needs of others at the forefront, an altruistic approach to life that inspires people of all ages."
These residents are part of the Volunteer Program at Charlestown.  In 2011, 800 volunteers logged more than 230,000 hours of service.
The Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame is a nonprofit organization that seeks to immortalize men and women and to record their names in the Archives of the Hall of Fame because of their caring and volunteer efforts in improving the lives of others.  More information can be found at www.mschf.org.
