Charlestown Welcomes New Residents at Luau Celebration

Charlestown, an Erickson Senior Living community in Catonsville, Md., recently welcomed approximately 150 new neighbors at special Hawaiian-themed luau event. Community members from Resident Life, Dining, Welcome Home, the Resident Council and General Services came together to create a warm, welcoming experience for residents who shared the unique experience of moving to Charlestown in 2020 and 2021, in the midst of the pandemic.

“New residents, members of the Executive Team and departments across the community came together for the first time to experience a celebration of the vibrant lifestyle at Charlestown,” said Mary Evans, Community Resources Manager. “This was also the first opportunity for many new residents to meet one another. It was very moving to see so many come together and spend time getting to know each other!”

Attendees enjoyed a fabulous live musical performance by Island Breeze with Meki Toalepai, professional hula dancing, and a delicious menu of island-inspired dishes, including pineapple glazed meatballs, fresh fruit, cheese crudité and a signature rum punch. Everyone dressed in their tropical best contributed to the festive experience.
