Charlestown Residents Contribute $270,500 to Staff Appreciation Fund

December 11, 2019

Catonsville, Md. – December 11, 2019 – Residents of Charlestown, a senior living community managed by Erickson Living, recently made the holiday season a bit brighter for the community's staff by contributing $270,500 to the Staff Appreciation Fund.

The annual campaign is organized each year as a way for residents to say "thank you" to hourly employees who provide a variety of resident services throughout the community. This year marked an historic high for the amount of money raised for the fund.

A resident committee, led by Lois Kimber, chair of the 2019 Campaign, worked collaboratively with Charlestown's Philanthropy and Human Resources departments to make this year an extra special one for hourly staff.

At a festive event last week, residents had the opportunity to express their appreciation directly to these employees and helped distribute the contributed funds to each eligible member of the staff. At Charlestown, eligible employees may include the community's wait staff, dining associates, security officers, communication and administrative staff, banquet servers, maintenance worker, culinary team, housekeepers, Certified Medical Assistants and Certified Nursing Assistants. A total of 997 employees received a distribution from the Staff Appreciation Fund this year.

"It is so heartwarming to see how much our residents care about our staff by contributing annually to ensure our hourly employees' holiday seasons are a bit brighter," said Patti Santoni, Director of Philanthropy at Charlestown. "Each year, our residents inspire us all by showing their deep appreciation for the staff who serve them well all year long."
