Tallgrass Creek Staff Appreciation Fund Spreads Cheer to Community Team Members

‘Tis the season for cookies, cocoa, cheer—and showing appreciation for team members who go above and beyond for residents at Tallgrass Creek, the Erickson Senior Living community in Overland Park, Kansas, every day!

The 2023 Staff Appreciation Fund, made possible through generous contributions from warm-hearted residents in recognition of the year-round efforts of hourly staff. Each holiday season, Tallgrass Creek residents contribute to the fund with enthusiasm and gratitude. 

This year was no exception with residents contributing more than $137,000. Their generosity made holiday bonuses possible for 387 team members, including dining associates, security officers, maintenance workers, housekeepers, and medical and nursing assistants.

Last week, the community’s leadership team hosted two festive events to provide residents with the opportunity to express in person their gratitude for all that employees do throughout the year to provide best-in-class service that enhances Tallgrass Creek’s engaging, worry-free lifestyle. 

First was Breakfast with Santa, where the team served a delicious pancake breakfast. Later that day, at Snacks with Santa, residents and team members enjoyed desserts and fudge, in celebration of National Fudge Day. At both events, each team members who received a gift from the Staff Appreciation Fund was presented with a special certificate from Tallgrass Creek residents. 

“Tallgrass Creek is a wonderful place to grow your career,” says Betsy Garrett, director of human resources at the community. “Not only are you supported by leadership and fellow coworkers, but you have the opportunity to form lasting friendships with the residents you serve every day.”

“I’d like to extend a huge thank you to all the residents who contributed to the fund this year,” says executive director Adam Dickson. “It’s the relationships between residents and staff that make Tallgrass Creek the vibrant, welcoming community it is.” 

Thanks to these meaningful relationships, Tallgrass Creek’s culture is always this merry and bright.
