Tallgrass Creek Residents Contribute More than $94,000 to Staff Appreciation Fund

Residents at Tallgrass Creek, a senior living community developed and managed by Erickson Living, recently made the holiday season a bit brighter for the community's staff by contributing more than $94,000 to the Staff Appreciation Fund.

The annual campaign is organized each year as a way for residents to say thank you to hourly employees who provide a range of resident services throughout the senior living community.

At a festive event last week, residents had the opportunity to express their appreciation directly to these employees and helped to distribute the funds to each eligible member of the staff. At Tallgrass Creek, eligible employees may include the community's wait staff, dining associates, security officers, communication and administrative staff, banquet servers, maintenance workers, culinary team, housekeepers, Certified Medical Assistants and Certified Nursing Assistants. 

A total of 244 hourly employees benefited from the Staff Appreciation Fund this year.

"Each year at the Staff Appreciation Fund distribution and celebration, I walk away feeling grateful that I work at such a giving community," said Jan Magee, Resident Life Manager at Tallgrass Creek. "This year felt extra special. The staff had an opportunity to not only express their immense gratitude to the residents for their generous donations to the Staff Appreciation Fund, but the element that that brought tears to my eyes were there comments regarding how the residents have a positive impact daily in their lives."

Magee continued, "For example, one employee said to a resident, 'You may think that we as staff members enrich your life, but in reality you enrich mine. You that makes this more than a job in the restaurant. Another staff member shared, 'I really miss the influence of my grandmother in my life. Each day I come to work and I fix something in your apartment or anything I can do to make your lives better, it reminds me how I felt helping my grandmother.' That is what this community, and this special time of year, are all about."
