Tallgrass Creek Offers Unique Residences for Every Taste and Budget

Choosing a residence with just the right floor plan is more than just picking a place to live--it's about finding a space that fits your lifestyle, budget, and priorities.

Tallgrass Creek, an Erickson Senior Living community in Overland Park, Kans., offers a variety of one- and two-bedroom designs to meet each person's unique tastes. From cozy, budget-friendly layouts to larger layouts with additional living space, you'll find a distinct balance of functionality, comfort, and style.

For Tallgrass Creek residents Mary Beth and Jim Carlyle, the one-bedroom Bradford floor plan perfectly suits their active lifestyle, while Susan and Joe Sims appreciate the extra space the two-bedroom two-bath Wycliff provides for entertaining family and friends.

Mary Beth and Jim, who moved to Tallgrass Creek from Bella Vista, Ark., in 2019 to be closer to their daughter in Overland Park, knew they did not need a second bedroom for guests.

A beautiful view

However, the couple enjoy the Bradford's half bath. "We find it's important when we have more than one guest says Mary Beth. "We also love having the balcony. We enjoy a wonderful, north-facing view."

Both Mary Beth and Jim take full advantage of Tallgrass Creek's many groups and activities located right on campus. Mary Beth volunteers in the on-site library and with the resident philanthropy committee. She also visits the fitness center for water-walks in the pool, while Jim enjoys taking his walks around the community and meeting friends at the billiards tables.

Simpler life

Complimenting their vibrant, active lifestyle, the Carlyles' residence at Tallgrass Creek is the perfect fit, providing just the right amount of space.

For example, since they typically eat at least one meal a day at one of Tallgrass Creek's six restaurants, their breakfast counter is all they need for a kitchen table.

"Our kitchen is just the right size for what we use it for. It's perfect," says Mary Beth. "We have two restaurants right here in our building so that's very convenient. And the nice thing is, we can go over to the adjoining new buildings and enjoy the food there, as well."

Mary Beth and Jim often invite another couple to join them for dinner followed by a game of bridge.

"I think life is simpler," says Mary Beth. "The thing is, we're not in the apartment all that much because we enjoy the gym, the swimming pool, and Jim likes to play billiards downstairs."

"It's really easy to keep clean too!" she adds.

Worry-free living

Like Mary Beth and Jim, Susan and Joe Sims found the perfect floor plan for their lifestyle and budget.

Long-time Overland Park residents, the couple moved to Tallgrass Creek in 2023. They continue to attend church and cultural events off campus while also participating in a variety of clubs and groups at Tallgrass Creek.

"Our lifestyle has not changed that much, it's just gotten easier," Susan says referring to worry-free living at Tallgrass Creek. "We don't even have to change our refrigerator filter or a light bulb."

Just as they did when they lived in their house, the Sims frequently host friends in their new residence. With extended family living in the area, space for family gatherings was an important consideration.

As a result, the couple chose the spacious Wycliff floor plan with a den and balcony, providing the perfect space for their dining room table, credenza, and chairs.

"When we entertain, we have 8 to 10 people sitting around the dining room table," Susan says. "Once a year we may have as many as 12 guests. I like to cook, and Joe likes to entertain, so a dedicated dining room was really important to us."

Tailored living spaces

During the moving process, the Sims met with Planning and Moving Consultant Nancy Worthington. She helped the couple determine that the Wycliff best met their needs. With a designated dining room, a den for Susan's office, and a spare bedroom for Joe's office, the space suits their lifestyle perfectly.

"We really like the balcony, too, and have a nice view," Joe says.

The Wycliff and Bradford are just two of the many one- and two-bedroom floor plan designs available at Tallgrass Creek.

"We have a large variety of floor plans that suit different budgets and lifestyles," says Sales Director Blake Marshall. "In our newest building, Prairie View, we offer a great mix of one- and two-bedroom floor plans. Now that Prairie View is open and everyone can see the layouts in person, those residences are selling quickly. There is a lot of excitement around the community and among the people on the Priority List."
