hundreds of jars have been sold

Hingham, MA - Many people who live at Linden Ponds have been raving about Chef de Cuisine Natale Umbro's Italian sauce for years. The recipe, which has been passed down in his family for over a 100 years, has been a big hit with the residents during dinner. Now he is selling it at Linden Ponds and over the first few days they sold out of three cases of his sauce.

"Residents were always complementing my family's Italian sauce and would ask if I had any extra," said Umbro. "We decided to try selling it and now not only are residents buying it, but so are the staff!"
The 16oz jar called "Gina's Italian Sauce" features Umbro's granddaughter.  Laurie Micarelli, Restaurant Associate, took her photo and then worked with Andrew Marron, who works at Linden Ponds as a banquet supervisor to create the graphic and label.  Paul McGovern, a Line Cook at Linden Ponds jars the sauce. To date, hundreds of jars have been sold.
"It took a team of us to make this happen and I am very grateful," said Umbro. "A portion of the proceeds goes back to Dining Services and my granddaughter Gina is also very excited about being on the jar!"

Linden Ponds is a full-service continuing care retirement community situated on a scenic 108-acre campus in Hingham, Massachusetts. The vibrant campus opened in October 2004, and is home to 1,200 people who are enjoying life to the fullest.
