Seniors at Greenspring retirement community celebrate Halloween in haunting style

(Springfield, Va.) - Nearly one dozen seniors from Greenspring retirement community participated in a ghoulish lip dub music video to celebrate Halloween.  The seniors, who dressed in costume for the video, performed to the song "Monster Mash" originally produced by Bobby 'Boris' Pickett in 1962.  Resident Ernie Sult, who played the leading role as the Mad Scientist, said "It was a ball. I had so much fun, found some gel, tousled up my hair, sashayed around, mugged the camera, mouthed the words, and screamed my heart out."
Other cast members included Shirley Shifflett as the witch, Arlene Girod and Anne Houck as zombies, Fred Griffin as Frankenstein, Betty Griffin as the Bride of Frankenstein, Bob Cromwell, Carolyn Posey and Frances Huenemann as vampires, Gray Parks as the ghost, and Carl Nemecek as the mummy.
Frances Huenemann said, "It was exciting to be a vampire and remember how fun Halloween can be." Shirley Shifflett agreed saying, "It was good to know we all still have a touch of our nine-year-old selves!"
The video was produced with the assistance of Greenspring's Channel 6 television studio. Channel 6 is an internal Telly award-winning, closed-circuit station, which broadcasts a live program five days a week across the community.
