(Springfield, Va.) - During the week of August 11, the Human Resources department at Greenspring retirement community hosted a "Back-to-School" event. Residents and staff members came together to assemble and distribute bags of school supplies to Greenspring employees with children or grandchildren in Kindergarten through 8th grades. Just in time for the next school year, the community distributed 250 bags full of school supplies to staff members.
"This is a wonderful way for us to give back to our employees," said Tamika Mitchell, Director of Human Resources at Greenspring. "We gathered school supply lists from Fairfax County in order to determine what items students needed most this coming year. It's a small gesture of thanks that goes a long way in making this time of year just a little bit easier for parents."
Each of the packed bags contained two composition books, one pencil bag, two glue sticks, one box of 24 ct. crayons, two black pens and two red pens, ten unsharpened #2 pencils, two pocket folders , one plastic ruler, and one spiral notebook.
