Residents and staff will parade over 25 dogs in costume at Greenspring retirement community Saturday, October 20 | 2:00 pm
WHAT:The 10th annual Halloween Pet Parade will be held at Greenspring on Saturday, October 20. In years past, the parade venue at Greenspring has been "standing room only," as an audience of Greenspring residents, family, and staff watch a parade of costumed pets prance by! The parade is sponsored by the Dogs of Greenspring resident club at the community. Other local sponsors include Shampooch Mobile Spa, Inc., Felix & Oscar, PetValu, and PetSmart.
This year, a special presentation will be made by the Virginia Search and Rescue Dog Association (VSRDA). According to their website, "VSRDA is a highly skilled volunteer canine search and rescue unit that utilizes specially trained dogs to locate missing persons in wilderness, disaster, human remains and water search and rescue/recovery missions. Each dog/handler team trains for a minimum of one year before becoming operational to insure a professional level of performance."
