A Host of Healthy Amenities Coming to The Grandview

Future residents of The Grandview in Bethesda will have access to amenities and programs designed to enhance their health and well-being.

Chevy Chase, Md., resident Carol Roth has maintained an active lifestyle for as long as she can remember. As a former Pilates studio owner and longtime Pilates instructor, she knows the importance of regular exercise.

And so does The Grandview, an Erickson Senior Living community opening in Bethesda, Md., next year. That's just one reason why she's excited to move to the engaging community, complete with a wide range of amenities and resources that support resident health and well-being!

Carol also understands the importance of planning for the future, given her mother's experience.

"I lived in Los Angeles, Calif., for 30 years before moving to Chevy Chase to be closer to my mom. She needed some help as she got older," explains Carol. "I always assumed that I would move back to California one day, but I planted roots here when I started teaching Pilates."

With a variety of amenities and programs to support her active lifestyle, a move to The Grandview--not even 15 minutes away--made sense.

"I'm looking forward to my move!" says Carol, who still teaches Pilates in person and via Zoom.

To share her passion for wellness and get to know her future neighbors, Carol teaches a monthly fitness class for interested members of The Grandview's Priority List at the community's Sales Center.

Prospective residents who join the Priority List get right of first refusal on desired apartment homes, invitations to exclusive social and informational events, and regular updates on construction progress. They also get a head start on participating in activities and groups--like the fitness club that Carol already formed.

On-site amenities

When The Grandview opens in Fall 2025, its fitness center will boast state-of-the-art equipment as well as trainers to help each resident craft a personalized exercise regimen.

"We'll have an indoor pool for doing laps and water aerobics and a variety of classes such as yoga, tai chi, Pilates, and Zumba," says Sales Counselor Debbie Brumbach. "Also, our Life Enrichment Center can be converted into two indoor pickleball courts."

She adds, "Many prospective residents have provided their input on what other classes they'd like to see and what kinds of services they want trainers and instructors to offer."

Outdoors, there will be walking trails, bocce courts, and a playground for when the grandkids visit.

"The prospective residents I meet at the Sales Center are very active--not just physically, but intellectually and socially," notes Brumbach. "The indoor and outdoor fitness amenities we will have here will be great for them, as they will provide ample ways to exercise and meet new friends."

Clubs and activities

Fast-growing groups, just like Carol's fitness club, will be another great way for residents to foster connections and make friends.

"Priority List members have also started groups for shared interests like technology, books, pickleball, meditation, and mah-jongg," says Brumbach. "All clubs are listed in the monthly email newsletter that is sent to Priority List members--along with contact information for each person who is leading a club."

Prospective residents moving from the area have indicated that The Grandview's convenient location--close to several activities and local country clubs--is a huge draw.

"People from the Bethesda area don't want to move far away because they have so many clubs and activities that they already love, like playing golf at their country club," Brumbach notes.

Carol, quite familiar with the area after 22 years, couldn't agree more. "I shop at Montgomery Mall and the car dealership I go to for repairs is close by. The Grandview is perfect!"

Brumbach notes that The Grandview will have an on-site medical center for residents to access and meet with physicians, nurses, and specialists without having to leave the community.  As a continuing care retirement community, additional levels of health care will be available on site once the community's master plan is complete.

The dish on dining

The Grandview's approach to healthy living will also extend to its dining options.

"The first building to open will have three restaurants, offering a variety of delicious and nutritious meals," says Brumbach. "Having lots of healthy options--whether it be fitness opportunities or menu items--is a key component of Erickson Senior Living's holistic approach to wellness."
