A recent study by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans found that “employers whose engagement levels are high offer attractive benefits including paid leave, health insurance, retirement, and health and well-being incentives.”

Ashby Ponds’ comprehensive total rewards go beyond typical employee benefit plans. In addition to offering multiple health care plans and choices, employees at Ashby Ponds, the Erickson Senior Living community in Ashburn, Va., receive a full range of support to help build their careers while enjoying an enviable work-life balance. Other competitive benefits include tuition reimbursement, 401K with company match, generous paid time off, online training classes, and a wide range of discount programs.

“Ashby Ponds provides employees with a work environment that encourages professional growth through incredible benefits and education support,” says executive director Tom Channon. “This positive work culture has resulted in the promotion of numerous team members into new and exciting roles.”

“Working for Erickson Senior Living is a wonderful,” says Ashby Ponds medical records coordinator Savilee Momolu. “Right away, I noticed the commitment to help employees grow professionally.”

Beginning her Ashby Ponds career in February 2018, Savilee enjoys numerous opportunities for professional growth, as well as generous tuition benefits and scholarships in support of her dream of becoming a nurse.

“I was working for a nearby retirement community but heard so many wonderful things about working at Ashby Ponds,” says Savilee. “I decided to apply for a position as a medication aid at Maple Grove, [the community’s continuing care neighborhood]. I noticed right away that Ashby Ponds offered a warm, welcoming work environment. Everyone I spoke with was so friendly and encouraging.”

Savilee began serving the Ashby Ponds community as a medication aid, working one-on-one with community members. Recognized for her commitment to the residents as well as her career aspirations, she was promoted to medical records coordinator for nursing administration.

“My manager understood that while working full time I was also attending school to become a nurse,” she says. “She suggested that since I was interested in nursing, I should consider working with the nurses. The medical records position allowed me to do that while providing flexibility with my school schedule. I am where I am today because my manager recognized my potential and helped me find ways to support my goals.”

Currently a student at Chamberlain University, Savilee continues to work toward her nursing degree. As a full-time employee, she receives 75% tuition reimbursement. In addition, she receives a student scholarship from the resident-sponsored Scholarship Fund.

“I am so grateful,” she says. “I don’t think I could go to school without these benefits. I didn’t have this kind of support at the community I worked for before.”

As an added benefit of her Ashby Ponds career, Savilee enjoys interacting daily with community members.

“Oh my goodness, the residents are so wonderful,” she says. “When I arrive in the morning they greet me happily, often complementing me on my clothes. There is not one day that I wake up and don’t want to come to work. It just doesn’t happen. The residents embrace you and appreciate your efforts. They respect me and I respect them. I love our interactions.”
