(Ashburn, VA) --- Ashby Ponds, an Erickson Living retirement community in Ashburn Va., introduced its state-of-the-art Continuing Care neighborhood in a grand opening ceremony on March 20. The addition of the neighborhood fulfills the community's commitment to residents and their families in providing all levels of health care at one site---the first of its kind in Loudoun County. With baby boomers turning 65 at a rate of 8,000 per day, the new neighborhood also meets the demands of a growing senior population.
Over 125 guests attended the grand opening event, which included guided tours, keynote presentations, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Delegate Tag Greason, who represents the 32nd district in Virginia's House of Delegates, served as the keynote speaker and Dave Jones, Chairman of the Ambassadors with the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, presented a congratulatory plaque in celebration of the grand opening. Other local elected officials including Senator Jennifer Wexton, as well as company and community leaders, current residents, and area health care and service professionals also joined members of the Ashby Ponds community for the event.
The new Continuing Care neighborhood features 132 residences for assisted living, post-acute rehabilitation, nursing care, and memory care. It has been designed to foster independence and support person-centered programs, providing residents the ability to participate in a variety of engaging activities.
"At Erickson Living, we strongly believe in our person-centered approach," said Amy Grossman, Director of Continuing Care at Ashby Ponds. "Our employees place great emphasis on getting to know our residents and developing meaningful relationships in order to provide individualized care."
The Continuing Care neighborhood includes private apartment suites with full private baths and showers, walk-in closets, and granite countertops. Spas and salons, a theater room, family-style kitchens, and outdoor courtyards are just some of the neighborhood amenities residents will also have the opportunity to enjoy.
The addition of the neighborhood is also a significant creator of employment opportunities in Loudoun County, having made available over 120 new positions in variety of areas from nursing and social work to culinary services and maintenance.
The Continuing Care neighborhood at Ashby Ponds was designed by the award-winning firm of Lantz-Boggio Architects. Whiting-Turner served as the general contractor for the project.
