Ashby Ponds will introduce Willow Crossing in Summer 2014

(Ashburn, Virginia) - Ashby Ponds, an Erickson Living retirement community, recently began construction on its newest residence building, Willow Crossing.  The building will be the first of its kind at Ashby Ponds, featuring both community spaces and amenities as well as apartment homes.

"We are thrilled to be able to meet the strong demand for the Ashby Ponds lifestyle with Willow Crossing," said David Gallagher, Executive Director at Ashby Ponds.  "This is truly an exciting time for the community.  We recently celebrated our fifth anniversary and will also be introducing our Continuing Care neighborhood early next year."
Willow Crossing, a four-story, 200,000 square-foot building, will feature 101 new apartment homes and additional community amenities including a new restaurant, a theater room, and another fitness space.  With a focus on increasing demands for innovative senior housing, Willow Crossing's apartment homes will include open floor plans, modernized kitchens with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, fully-sized, side-by-side washers and dryers, walk-in closets, and custom flooring and lighting options.  The apartment homes will consist of an assortment of Ashby Ponds' most popular one- and two-bedroom floor plans, as well as eight brand new floor plans designed in response to resident feedback.
"Willow Crossing will be a wonderful addition to our community," said Holly Henderson, Director of Sales at Ashby Ponds.  "Upon its completion, we expect to welcome more than 150 new residents to Ashby Ponds.  The current residents of the community are looking forward to meeting their new neighbors and introducing the benefits of a worry-free lifestyle."
As of November 1, 99% of the apartment homes in Willow Crossing have already been reserved.  According to Henderson, the addition of the Continuing Care neighborhood at the community is in part driving the increased demand for a future home at Ashby Ponds.  "Without a doubt, future residents appreciate the comfort of knowing that continuing care options will be available if needed," said Henderson.  The Continuing Care neighborhood will include residences and person-centered care designed for assisted living, post-acute rehabilitation, nursing care, and memory care.
Willow Crossing has been designed by the award winning, WBE certified architectural firm of Marks, Thomas Architects.  With a background spanning more than 45 years, Marks, Thomas Architects is a leader in the design of senior living communities. Ashby Ponds has also selected Whiting-Turner as the general contractor for the new building.  Founded in 1909, Whiting-Turner boasts an extensive portfolio in the senior living industry.
