This summer, White Oak Terrace, the newest independent living residential building at Windsor Run, will open its doors to new residents eager to join the thriving Erickson Senior Living developed and managed community in Matthews, N.C.

“We are thrilled to meet the strong demand for the Windsor Run lifestyle with an additional 113 new apartment homes at White Oak Terrace,” says Executive Director George Comfort.

All of the new homes in White Oak Terrace feature amenities already popular at Windsor Run, including airy layouts; modernized kitchens with granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances; full-sized, side-by-side washers and dryers; walk-in closets; and custom flooring and light fixtures.

Each new apartment home is easily accessible to the Woodland Clubhouse via glass-enclosed walkways. Inside the clubhouses, community members will enjoy the conveniences of three restaurants, an on-site medical center, fitness center, all season pool and hot tub, creative arts studio, library, salon and day spa, classrooms, marketplace, and movie theater.

“We listened carefully to what our current residents and priority list members enjoy most about apartment homes already on campus,” says Director of Sales Ryan Barkley. “As a result, White Oak Terrace features floor plans that best meet the needs of our community. This includes the new extra-large two-bedroom, two-bathroom with a porch apartment home called the Washington.”

Excitement builds

As one of the more than 100 new people who will soon call Windsor Run home, Sun City, S.C., resident Liz Simmons eagerly looks forward to her move.

“As beautiful as my current home is, I knew Windsor Run has so much more to offer me at this stage in my life,” she says. Not only will her upcoming move bring her closer to her daughter, son-in-law, and four-year-old grandson in Cotswold, N.C., Liz believes it’s the start of an exciting new adventure.

“After my husband passed away, my best friend came to visit me from her home in Cincinnati,” she says. “I told her that I wanted to look at retirement communities, especially those that would bring me closer to family. Windsor Run was the first community we visited and from the minute I walked through the doors of the sales center, I felt so welcome. With all the many amenities offered, I knew this is the best place to meet my current needs.”

Windsor Run Sales Counselor Matt Mooney led Liz and her friend on a tour of the community.

“Matt is wonderful,” she says. “So was everyone I met. Windsor Run has such a great atmosphere. Everyone is so positive. It just felt right. And my friend felt the same way. As Matt showed us around, he knew everyone we encountered. It was so heartwarming to see that level of personal connection.”

The perfect model

With the decision to move made, Liz met with Windsor Run Personal Moving Consultant Amanda Indenbaum to select the home that best met her needs. She ultimately chose the newest floor plan— the Washington.

“I made a decision from the start to open up and let the journey happen,” she says. “The Washington is perfect for my needs with room for my grand piano. And I love the large screened-in porch. It’s really beautiful. I’m so happy and excited.”

With her move only weeks away, Liz is grateful to the Windsor Run sales team for their help. “Windsor Run makes the moving process seamless,” she says. “We move easily from one step to the next. There is definitely work to do in preparing for my move but, thanks to the help, it has not been stressful.” request a free brochure or schedule a tour

In addition, as a reservist, Liz was offered the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine earlier this year. “I am so grateful,” she says. “I was so moved by the whole experience. It was just another example of how well Windsor Run cares for their residents.”

Looking forward

Following her move, Liz looks forward to meeting new people, enjoying expertly prepared meals, and scheduling workouts in the fitness center. “I’m looking forward to making lots of lunch dates with new neighbors,” she says.

“I’m thrilled that the fitness center is equipped with NuStep machines. These are just a few examples of how, even the little things, are working out in my favor. I’m looking forward to a wonderful new life and lots and lots of fun.”
