For the last seven years, Isiah Crapps worked as a maintenance director at a local assisted living facility. Looking for a new opportunity, this past January he accepted a position as maintenance mechanic at Windsor Run, an Erickson Senior Living community in Matthews, NC.
“Immediately I knew this job was different,” says Isiah. “I love how Erickson Senior Living treats their residents and their employees with kindness and respect.”
Just as Erickson Senior Living is committed to providing all of its residents with the best life has to offer, the company is dedicated to providing each of its employees with financial stability, opportunities for growth, and a healthy work/life balance.
“The services we offer to more than 30,000 residents nationwide are only as good as the people providing them,” says Alan Butler, Chief Executive Officer of Erickson Senior Living. “That is why we take the hiring process very seriously in order to identify the best people. As a growth company with a bright future, we strive to be an employer of choice by providing an unparalleled workplace experience.”
A great start
In the 9-months since his arrival at Windsor Run, Isiah has found that his career is so much more than a job, providing him opportunities and support for achieving his professional goals.
“My managers and coworkers have been very supportive and patient with me as I get to know the responsibilities of my new job, the buildings, and the residents,” he says. “Everyone is very helpful.”
But the best part, according to Isiah, are the relationships he’s building with Windsor Run residents.
“I love coming to work now,” he says. “This is more than just a job because of the residents. They add so much enjoyment to my day. There are several who request me, specifically, when they need help with something in their apartment.”
Ample benefits
Isiah also appreciates the many advantages of Erickson Senior Living’s generous benefits program including comprehensive healthcare; annual well-being visits; access to wellness workshops and fitness challenges; and reimbursement of up to $260 for personal wellness expenses for team members enrolled in an Erickson Senior Living medical plan.
“My daughter has some medical complications and my medical, dental, and vision insurance is very, very helpful,” says Isiah. “There is also an incentive for employees to go to our on-site medical center to have our blood pressure taken, and a few other exams. When we do, we receive a discount on our health insurance. I think that’s great.”
In August, Isiah was named Windsor Run’s Employee of the Month for his hard work and dedication to his teammates and the residents they serve.
“It was a surprise and an honor,” he says. “I’m proud to work at Windsor Run and love coming to work every day. I enjoy a good work/life balance and I know that both my managers, and the residents, care for me.”
