Mayor Taylor Welcomes Erickson Senior Living’s Windsor Run to Matthews at Sales Center Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

December 10, 2015

(Matthews, North Carolina) — On Wednesday, December 9th, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the Sales Center at Windsor Run, an Erickson Living retirement community located in Matthews, North Carolina. The Sales Center is the first building completed on the property; the next phase for the project includes construction of independent living apartment homes and a community clubhouse projected for completion in 2017.

"This is a great project for this property," said Jim Taylor, Mayor of Matthews. "Congratulations to Erickson and to everyone who's here today."  Mayor Taylor shared that Matthews has also recently been designated as an age-friendly community – the first such community in North Carolina.

Windsor Run is the newest community introduced by Erickson Living, a leading developer and manager of Continuing Care Retirement Communities nationwide.  Currently, over 24,000 residents reside in 17 Erickson Living communities in ten states; Windsor Run marks the first in North Carolina. The community will feature abundant amenities and services complemented with integrated healthcare and wellness programs for seniors.

"It is the start of something special when you launch a sales center; it signifies that we are committed to our mission of providing a wonderful lifestyle to seniors," said Alan Butler, Chief Executive Officer for Erickson Living.  "We are committed to long-term success and will be great partners with the community here in Matthews and in Mecklenburg County."

Earl and Claudia Davis, who are members of Windsor Run's priority list, joined for the event and cut the official ribbon in front of the Sales Center.  As former residents of Riderwood, an Erickson Living community in Silver Spring, Maryland, the Davis' look forward to enjoying the lifestyle at Windsor Run, while staying near to their family in the Matthews-Charlotte area.   Representatives from the Matthews Chamber of Commerce, of which Windsor Run is a member, also joined for the ceremony, along with Town of Matthews Commissioners John Higdon and Chris Melton.
