Six local high school graduates were named to the first class of Student Scholars at Windsor Run, an Erickson Senior Living community.
These select student employees, who hold positions across the community’s three on-campus restaurants, displayed an unwavering commitment to service and excellence. They were honored at a program held at Windsor Run on June 12.
To recognize their dedication and propel their promising futures, community residents generously donated more than $53,400 to the Student Scholarship Fund. The scholarships are worth up to $4,000—at $500 per semester.
“Our amazing student workers acknowledge how impactful these scholarships are,” says Executive Director Michael Wehrle. “We appreciate all of the residents who donated in this the first year of the Student Scholar Fund at Windsor Run as these awards set our student workers up for success. The Student Scholar awards are a tangible way in which the Windsor Run family supports mission-driven team members who are eager to further their education.”
Jillian Perry is the Resident Services Manager who serves on the Philanthropy Committee with residents and co-workers. “The program not only celebrated the accomplishments of our student scholars and Philanthropy Committee, but also strengthened our community bonds. We are already looking forward to working on next year’s campaign,” she notes
To be eligible for the scholarships, students typically work at least 1,000 hours in the dining services department during their junior and senior years in high school. They must achieve satisfactory grades and remain in "good standing" as determined by their manager and plan to attend a college, university, or trade school on a full-time basis (at least 12 credit hours per semester).
