May is Global Employee Health and Fitness Month, an international observance of the value of well-being in the workplace. Dr. Julia Shiner, vice president and medical director of Employee Health and Well-Being at Erickson Senior Living, shared simple ways for employees to maintain a healthy lifestyle even while at work with WJZ-TV, the CBS affiliate station in Baltimore.
Dr. Shiner discussed the importance of taking advantage of small opportunities that add up throughout the day. She noted that going for a walk, avoiding sugary snacks, and enjoying the outdoors for a few minutes all make a difference. Even knowing your company’s benefits, which often provide financial incentives for maintaining healthy habits, can contribute to an employee’s well-being.
