$8.6 Million in Scholarships Awarded to Erickson Senior Living Student Employees

August 16, 2023
Charlestown Scholars 2023

With increasing numbers of careers requiring advanced education, a college degree is more important than ever. Research indicates that earning a degree not only enhances job opportunities but also provides a pathway for personal growth.

To help realize the dream of attending college, $3.8 million was contributed in the last six months, primarily by residents, as a part of Student Scholarship Fund campaigns at 17 Erickson Senior Living-managed communities across the country.

This spirit of generosity is now helping more than 1,500 student employees pursue academic paths to success.

In the past two years, more than $8.6 million has been raised for Student Scholarship Fund campaigns across the enterprise.

“The profound understanding and unwavering generosity of our residents exemplifies a true commitment to nurturing the dreams of these remarkable students, propelling them toward a brighter and fulfilling tomorrow," said Jeff Watson, director of operations at Erickson Senior Living. “Every day we see how the positive and meaningful connection between generations at our campuses benefits everyone involved.”

To be eligible for the scholarships, students typically work at least 1,000 hours in the dining services department of an Erickson Senior Living community during their junior and senior years in high school. They must achieve satisfactory grades and remain in "good standing" as determined by their manager.

The noteworthy contributions residents, employees, and others make to support ongoing education and career development is one of the many reasons why Erickson Senior Living communities are considered among the best places to live and work.
