Highland Springs Residents Root, Root, Root for the Home Team

April 8, 2014

DALLAS, TX---One resident described attending Nolan Ryan's seventh no-hitter.  Another recalled driving from Texas to Los Angeles to see her parents' beloved Dodgers play the rival San Francisco Giants.
These personal stories were part of the 2014 Salute to Baseball at Highland Springs, the Erickson Living retirement community in North Dallas.
The April 1st event featured a trivia contest with prizes, cheers for the hometown Texas Rangers and the sharing of memorable baseball stories.  Matt Neville, Executive Director, opened the festivities by throwing the ceremonial first pitch to Barbara Blachly, Community Resources Coordinator.
Additionally, the Highlandettes, a performing arts group at Highland Springs, danced to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," with an excerpt included in this video.
Later that evening, a group of residents attended the Rangers first night game of the year at Globe Life Park in Arlington.  They saw a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
"Our residents are truly passionate about their baseball, particularly the hometown Rangers," described Ms. Blachly.  "It was fun to reminisce about what makes this such a special part of our lives and to look ahead to a great season."
