Generous Highland Springs Residents Help Student Employees Pave Their Paths to Success

June 26, 2024

30 local high school graduates were recently named Student Scholars at Highland Springs, an Erickson Senior Living community located in North Dallas.

These select student workers, who hold positions as servers, hosts, and hostesses across the community’s seven on-campus restaurants, displayed an unwavering commitment to service and excellence. They were honored at a ceremony held on June 15 at the community’s Arts and Enrichment Center.

To recognize their dedication and propel their promising futures, community residents generously donated more than $176,000 to the Student Scholarship Fund—awarded to students up to $20,000 depending on the student’s attendance to two-year, four-year, or trade schools.

“The influence of the Student Scholars Class of 2024 throughout our community is meaningful,” notes Matt Neville, Executive Director. “They serve our residents with energy, enthusiasm and a bright smile every day, and we are fortunate that these young men and women chose to share their lives with us at Highland Springs.”

“We couldn’t have put this scholarship program together without our residents’ generous donations, and I would like to particularly express our appreciation to the members of the Scholarship Committee.”

To be eligible for the scholarships, students typically work at least 1,000 hours in the dining services department during their junior and senior years in high school. They must achieve satisfactory grades and remain in "good standing" as determined by their manager and plan to attend a college, university, or trade school on a full-time basis (at least 12 credit hours per semester).
