150 Highland Springs Residents + 5 hours = 96,000 meals for Children in Need

August 21, 2015
DALLAS, TX—Over 150 residents of Highland Springs retirement community will roll up their sleeves to work on behalf of less fortunate children in the United States and around the world via its Kids Against Hunger project on Monday, August 24.

Two assembly lines of volunteers will be ready to go as these residents will produce, sort and package highly nutritious, life-saving meals with ingredients provided by Kids Against Hunger.

During the five-hour time frame, it is anticipated that 96,000 meals will be created and readied for distribution.  It is the third time that Highland Springs has participated in a Kids Against Hunger event.

The mission of Kids Against Hunger, a humanitarian food-aid organization, is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and to feed starving children throughout the world.

Kids Against Hunger's meals have been formulated by food scientists to provide a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by a malnourished child's body and mind. The food also accommodates to the broad diversity of ethnic tastes and religious differences around the world.  The meals are easy to package, keep for long periods of time and require only boiling water to prepare.
