Erickson Senior Living, a leading developer and manager of continuing care retirement communities, chose the location for Emerson Lakes--its newest community--with great intention.
Emerson Lakes will be situated in the center of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., a master planned community in Southwest Florida just east of the Sarasota coastline.
Lakewood Ranch is often recognized for its friendly, small-town feel and wide range of convenient amenities and activities, like shopping, dining, and entertainment.
Although Emerson Lakes will provide everything future residents need to enjoy a fulfilling retirement, having access to the Lakewood Ranch area will only enhance their vibrant lifestyle.
"Lakewood Ranch is one of the fastest growing areas in the country for a reason," notes Adam Zubowsky, sales director for Emerson Lakes. "People are coming here for the culture, the weather, and the experiences. There's so much to do!"
Lakewood Ranch's town centers
Lakewood Ranch comprises three town centers: Main Street, Waterside Place, and The Green. Each town center boasts unique features that appeal to visitors and future residents alike.
The picturesque Main Street--lined with cafes and boutiques--provides an open air, pedestrian-friendly environment, perfect for strolling and shopping. It's also the go-to site for special events, concerts, and festivals that are held year-round in the comfortable Florida weather.
Waterside Place was the first lakefront shopping destination offered in Sarasota. Sunday farmers markets, live music on The Plaza, and happy hour events are just a part of the excitement. Waterside Park is an eight-acre island community park complete with a Splash Pad, volleyball courts, walking paths, exercise pods, hammocks, and a pedestrian bridge to Waterside Place.
The Green is the town center located closest to the northern villages of Lakewood Ranch. Fully lined by sidewalks, The Green, a growing 37-acre development--featuring more than two dozen businesses and restaurants--will be just a short walk from Emerson Lakes.
Emerson Lakes will provide complimentary shuttle services to each of the town centers, giving residents easy access to all of the fun and excitement of Lakewood Ranch.
So much to do in Sarasota
Emerson Lakes will be just 11 miles from Sarasota, a city bustling with activity. From beaches and parks to golf and tennis, there's so much to explore.
Sarasota is home to the John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, the state museum of Florida honoring the Ringling family and their Barnum & Bailey show; the Sarasota Art Museum; the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium; and the Sarasota Classic Car Museum.
Visitors can also shop 'til they drop! A popular attraction for shoppers is University Town Center, a large mall with 125 stores and restaurants, a play area, and walking trails. It's also home to holiday events and entertainment all year long.
There are also plenty of great buys available at Sarasota's craft and vintage markets, Southgate Mall, and national retailers and boutiques in downtown Sarasota.
Hit the beach
And you can't forget about some of the coast's most beautiful beaches, providing amazing views and plenty of attractions. Several beaches will be located within 25 miles of the community--an easy 30- to 45-minute drive away.
Anna Maria Island boasts seven miles of white sand and turquoise waters in a preserved area. Far from the hustle and bustle, it has a true relaxed atmosphere.
Located just west of Sarasota, Lido Key is known for beautiful sunsets, deep-sea fishing, sailing, dolphin watching, kayaking, and cruises. Nearby St. Armands Circle offers more than 100 stores, lush gardens, and outdoor dining.
Longboat Key is a barrier island west of Sarasota, known for its 12 miles of white-sand beaches, luxury resorts, waterfront golf, and upscale dining.
Famous for its eight-mile stretch of relaxing, white quartz sand, Siesta Key is home to several intimate beaches and an array of outdoor activities. According to Trip Advisor's 2023 Travelers' Choice Awards, Siesta Beach is the second best beach spot in the U.S.
Get your cheer on
Sports fans will delight in access to all of the major professional leagues.
Ed Smith Stadium, located in Sarasota, serves as the spring training site for Major League Baseball's Baltimore Orioles. CoolToday Park, located in Venice, Fla.--20 miles from Lakewood Ranch--hosts the Atlanta Braves in the off season.
Lakewood Ranch is also under an hour from Tampa, so football enthusiasts can see the Buccaneers come fall; catch a regular season baseball game at Tropicana Field, home of the Rays; and watch professional hockey at Amalie Arena, where the Lightning play. The Yankees also call Tampa their spring home.
Time to relax and enjoy
No matter their hobbies or interests, residents of Emerson Lakes will have the opportunity to enjoy it all.
"With home maintenance a thing of the past, Emerson Lakes residents will have more free time to pursue the things they love on campus, in Lakewood Ranch, and in the greater Sarasota area," says Zubowsky.
