Avery Point, a continuing care retirement community developed and managed by Erickson Senior Living, hosted its grand opening on October 6 with a ceremonial ribbon cutting, reception, and clubhouse tour for company and community leaders, as well as future residents and employees. The senior living community is poised for long-term success, as reflected in its first phase being sold out quickly and its second phase reservations also filling up fast.

The community is situated on a scenic, 94-acre campus just minutes from Short Pump Town Center. It adds to Erickson Senior Living's growing national network of communities in 11 states, including the third in Virginia—the others being Ashby Ponds and Greenspring in Northern Virginia.

“We are thrilled to bring the vibrant, engaging, and affordable Erickson Senior Living lifestyle to the Richmond area," said Executive Director Todd DeLaney. “We stand out in this market not just with a very attractive value proposition, but also in being able to enhance the local economy by generating millions in annual economic activity as well as over 500 career opportunities.”

The project's first phase of development is complete and includes a clubhouse and two independent living buildings, consisting of 216 stylish and maintenance-free one- and two-bedroom apartment homes. Floor plans, most with a patio or balcony, are custom-designed and offer a variety of luxurious features, including open, airy layouts, contemporary fixtures, and 9' ceilings. The second phase, now under construction, includes a similar independent living building comprising 107 residences. Upon full build-out, the community will feature 1,160 independent living apartment homes and an on-site continuing care neighborhood with multiple levels of care (assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing).

Avery Point was proud to welcome local dignitaries to the event, including Virginia State Delegate John McGuire and Goochland County Board of Supervisors Member Ken Peterson.

Among the Erickson Senior Living corporate executive team members in attendance for the ceremonial opening were Chief Executive Officer Alan Butler, Chief Operating Officer Debra Doyle, Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing, Communications Tom Neubauer, and Executive Vice President of Real Estate and Development Sean Sands. During the celebration, Butler noted, “I am so proud of the Avery Point team and our corporate partners for bringing to life the vision for this distinct senior living community in Goochland County. We are committed to providing the highest quality operations and ‘best in class’ customer service and programs at an unparalleled value.”

Hilda Kelly, a future resident of Avery Point who has lived in Hanover County all her life, describes why she made the decision to move to the community.

“I was one of the first to commit to living at Avery Point, and everything I have experienced at this one-of-a-kind senior living community has been beyond my expectations,” said Ms. Kelly. “My decision to move now to this fabulous community includes not just the fantastic amenities, along with wonderful and caring staff, but also the ability to enjoy a financial model that provides predictable retirement expenses and protection for hard-earned savings.”

Avery Point provides an active lifestyle to residents with abundant amenities and a broad spectrum of activities and services, complemented with integrated health care and wellness. On-site conveniences will include an all-season aquatics and fitness center, restaurants, theatre, salon and day spa, classrooms, a library, and on-site medical center.

Erickson Senior Living is nationally recognized by industry experts for its innovative designs and high-quality construction. Combined with the company's plans to build Woodleigh Chase in Fairfax, Erickson Senior Living will become Virginia's largest senior living provider.

Moseley Architects is the architect for the $500-million-dollar development project. Brinkmann Constructors is the general contractor. For more information, visit AveryPointCommunity.com.
