Sarasota is home to the John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, the state museum of Florida honoring the Ringling family and their Barnum & Bailey show; the Sarasota Art Museum; the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium; and the Sarasota Classic Car Museum.

Visitors can also shop 'til they drop! A popular attraction for shoppers is University Town Center, a large mall with 125 stores and restaurants, a play area, and walking trails. It's also home to holiday events and entertainment all year long. 

There are also plenty of great buys available at Sarasota's craft and vintage markets, Southgate Mall, and national retailers and boutiques in downtown Sarasota.

Hit the beach

And you can't forget about some of the coast's most beautiful beaches, providing amazing views and plenty of attractions. Several beaches will be located within 25 miles of the community--an easy 30- to 45-minute drive away.

Anna Maria Island boasts seven miles of white sand and turquoise waters in a preserved area. Far from the hustle and bustle, it has a true relaxed atmosphere.

Located just west of Sarasota, Lido Key is known for beautiful sunsets, deep-sea fishing, sailing, dolphin watching, kayaking, and cruises. Nearby St. Armands Circle offers more than 100 stores, lush gardens, and outdoor dining.

Longboat Key is a barrier island west of Sarasota, known for its 12 miles of white-sand beaches, luxury resorts, waterfront golf, and upscale dining. 

Famous for its eight-mile stretch of relaxing, white quartz sand, Siesta Key is home to several intimate beaches and an array of outdoor activities. According to Trip Advisor's 2023 Travelers' Choice Awards, Siesta Beach is the second best beach spot in the U.S.

Get your cheer on 

Sports fans will delight in access to all of the major professional leagues. 

Ed Smith Stadium, located in Sarasota, serves as the spring training site for Major League Baseball's Baltimore Orioles. CoolToday Park, located in Venice, Fla.--20 miles from Lakewood Ranch--hosts the Atlanta Braves in the off season. 

Lakewood Ranch is also under an hour from Tampa, so football enthusiasts can see the Buccaneers come fall; catch a regular season baseball game at Tropicana Field, home of the Rays; and watch professional hockey at Amalie Arena, where the Lightning play. The Yankees also call Tampa their spring home.
