Oak Crest’s Continuing Care Neighborhood Receives “Best Nursing Home” Designation by Newsweek

October 16, 2019

Parkville, Maryland—The continuing care neighborhood of Oak Crest received a Best Nursing Home designation for 2020 by Newsweek, available exclusively at https://www.newsweek.com/best-nursing-homes-2020.

To create this easy-to-use resource, Newsweek evaluated more than 15,000 nursing homes in 20 states, partnering with respected global data research firm Statista Inc. to establish a ranking of the 400 Best Nursing Homes across the nation.

According to Newsweek, the analysis was based on recommendations from medical experts and three performance-based criteria (health inspections, staffing and quality measures) from data compiled by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Catherine Cohen is the Director of the Continuing Care Neighborhood at Oak Crest, developed and managed by Erickson Living.

"Being named a Best Nursing Home by Newsweek is a tribute to the professionalism and compassion of our employees as well as the extensive training that we offer for career development," stated Mrs. Cohen.  "The partnerships between the medical professionals of Oak Crest are also strong.  All told, we take great pride in fulfilling our mission to meet the needs of our residents and provide peace of mind to their families."

The continuing care neighborhood at Oak Crest offers assisted living, memory care, long-term care and in-patient rehabilitation services with a focus on person-centered care.  Additionally, three independent living neighborhoods provide 1,512 apartment homes in a variety of stylish floor plans.  All residents have access to a wealth of amenities and services conveniently located at the 87-acre campus.

Newsweek noted that, by 2030, the 65+ age demographic will account for more than 20 percent of the total United States population.

"The need for safe and reliable elder care is only growing," wrote Nancy Cooper, Global Editor in Chief.  "Beloved elders deserve the best care their families can provide.  We hope the rankings here can help make these decisions easier."
