Oak Crest Residents Enjoy Best-in-Class Service

By Danielle Rexrode

When Connie Fliegel sold her condominium and moved to Oak Crest, she was attracted to the convenient location as well as the wide variety of amenities, clubs, and volunteer opportunities available. But after two years in the Erickson Senior Living community, she discovered there is a distinct level of customer service that also sets Oak Crest apart.

“I feel right at home at Oak Crest,” says Connie. “The people who live here are friendly and the staff is just great! The other day I had a problem with a package and the staff at the front desk went out of their way to help me. [Another time] I called our executive director and left a message, and the problem was resolved right away. It means a lot when you have staff that will respond quickly to your concerns and requests.”

Resort-style amenities

For a quarter of a century, Oak Crest has been the preferred choice for retirement living in northeastern Baltimore County. Known for beautiful, resort-style amenities and outstanding value, Oak Crest remains a leader in changing the way people view and spend their retirement.

Over the years, resident feedback has reflected that quality customer service is a critical component to Oak Crest residents' overall satisfaction. The community has received numerous accolades for “going above and beyond” to meet the expectations and needs of residents and staff.

For example, Oak Crest was named the top winner in the Best Retirement Community category in the 2020 Reader Rankings presented by The Daily Record.

“At Oak Crest, we take great pride in delivering the level of customer service the residents expect and deserve,” says Executive Director Mark Roussey. “We listen to residents, and we communicate well with one another, leading to higher levels of resident satisfaction. As a result, we enjoy the moments when we receive compliments from residents as well as their loved ones.”

“Moving to Oak Crest was one of the best decisions I've ever made,” says Diana Lohr, who moved to Oak Crest almost three years ago with her dog Lilly. “I feel so well taken care of. I feel like I made such a good decision.”

“The way they handled the pandemic is just another reason why I'm glad that I live here,” says Diana. “The employees I have met have just been wonderful, and the administration has such care and empathy for the residents. We know they care about us, and it shows in how they handled the pandemic.”

Oak Crest is managed by Erickson Senior Living, a family of 20 managed communities in 11 states. By being a part of the Erickson Senior Living enterprise, Oak Crest has the support, resources, and financial strength to secure all the essentials and weather even the toughest challenge. This includes being able to leverage the company's size to bring the best services and resources to residents at the best value.

Early vaccine access

Thanks to Erickson Senior Living's incredible network of partners, experts, and suppliers, Oak Crest can prioritize residents' needs. In February, Oak Crest was able to hold on-campus COVID-19 vaccine clinics, in partnership with CVS/Omnicare, resulting in more than 95% of residents receiving a vaccine.

Healthy living is a hallmark of Oak Crest. A key facet of this unbeatable lifestyle is the on-site, full-service medical center providing first-rate, personal health care. The community offers a level of care unavailable at other retirement communities. The medical staff specializes in the unique needs of seniors and works exclusively with residents. They provide same-day appointments and personalized care focused on individual goals.

Opportunities to socialize

For residents like Sandy Kuhn, just as important as supporting physical health are the opportunities to meet new people and take advantage of clubs, educational programs, and other aspects of community life.

“There is so much to do here and you choose what you want to do. It's up to you,” says Sandy. “We have the aquatics center, a first-class gym, walking groups, outside games, puzzle tables galore, card groups, table games, theatre, volunteer opportunities, day trips—there is always something to do.”
