PARKVILLE, MD---Oak Crest, the Erickson Living retirement community, received the James W. Rouse Diversity Award from the Chesapeake Human Resources Association (CHRA). The ceremony was held on May 15th at the PSA Financial Learning Center in Hunt Valley.
The James W. Rouse Diversity Award honors the innovative strategies that businesses have developed and implemented to advance the concept and spirit of diversity. The award is given to the organization that demonstrates the very best diversity initiatives.
Wendy Kelly is the Director of Human Resources at Oak Crest. "We are proud to have earned this recognition from the Chesapeake Human Resources Association," stated Ms. Kelly. "In serving over 2,100 residents, Oak Crest is a mission-oriented organization. Creating a culture that embraces diversity is a year-round partnership with our 1,170 employees that has contributed to high retention and employee satisfaction rates."
A workplace that includes employees from the ages of 14 to 85, Oak Crest fulfills its commitment to diversity and inclusion through a myriad of venues which include the Erickson Living company-wide "Working Together" training program, the "Through the Eyes of the Customer" pilot program and the Oak Crest Diversity and Inclusion Council.
The latter plans a series of diversity events enjoyed by residents and employees alike, including movie nights, educational opportunities and special celebrations such as the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. community breakfast.
Oak Crest is preparing for its annual Diversity Expo to be held on July 12th. This year's theme will celebrate the "Five Senses of Diversity...Music, Art, Heritage, Food and Religion."
