David Modell Appears on Oak Crest Benevolent Care Fund Telethon

December 12, 2012

PARKVILLE, MD---December 7th was a true Purple Friday at Oak Crest as a Baltimore Ravens pioneer made a special visit.
The Erickson Living retirement community hosted David Modell, current consultant and former president & chief executive officer of the National Football League team.
Mr. Modell was a headliner on the community's 4th Annual Benevolent Care Fund Telethon, airing on Oak Crest's in-house TV station, WOCV.
The annual event raised $50,000 for the fund, according to Todd Sullivan, Director of Philanthropy and host of the telethon.
"My heartfelt thanks to David Modell for taking time to appear on our telethon," stated Mr. Sullivan.  "It was fun to reflect on his favorite moments with the team and reminisce about the life of his father, Art, whose contributions to the National Football League and civic life in Baltimore are hall-of-fame worthy."
"I would also like to thank the contributors and sponsors who made this year's event not only entertaining, but also financially successful," described Mr. Sullivan.  "Our residents, employees and friends scored a game-winning touchdown for the Benevolent Care Fund of Oak Crest."
The four-hour telethon included a steady stream of guests, including former Baltimore Orioles Bill Swaggerty, a pitcher on the 1983 World Series championship team, and Ross Grimsley, a popular hurler in the 1970's.
WOCV also paid special tribute to Myrtle Watson, a U.S. Army Nurse who served as a first-responder during the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Always willing to share her experience to teach younger generations about that day of infamy, Ms. Watson passed away earlier in the year.
PNC Bank, Brooks Financial Group, Inc, Schimunek Funeral Home (Nottingham/Bel Air) and Miller Dippel Funeral Home were sponsors of the telethon.
