Student Scholarship Program Strengthens Intergenerational Bonds at Erickson Senior Living Communities

July 23, 2024
Student team members across the Erickson Senior Living enterprise can be eligible for collegiate scholarships, driven by the generosity of residents.

Residents of Erickson Senior Living communities recognize that an investment in education is a path to a successful future.

In the last six months, $4.6 million was contributed, primarily by residents, as a part of Student Scholarship Fund campaigns at 18 Erickson Senior Living-managed communities across the country.

More than 1,400 student employees are now pursuing college degrees, supported by this spirit of generosity.

Over the past two years, more than $10.4 million has been raised for Student Scholarship Fund campaigns across the enterprise.

“The student scholarship program is a source of tremendous pride throughout Erickson Senior Living because it exemplifies our mission of helping people live better lives,” said Jeff Watson, director of operations. “These students bring their very best to our communities during each shift, brightening the lives of our residents. In turn, the residents are eager to contribute to the hopeful futures of these young men and women. As a result, the connections they create are not only friendly, but also profound and meaningful.”

To be eligible for the scholarships, students typically work at least 1,000 hours, most often in the dining services department of an Erickson Senior Living community during their junior and senior years in high school. They must achieve satisfactory grades and remain in "good standing" as determined by their manager.
