Woodland Pointe's opening expands specialized health care services in Union County

(New Providence, N.J.) On Thursday, July 20, Lantern Hill, a distinctive Erickson Living senior living community in New Providence, New Jersey, hosted a Celebration and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to commemorate the recent opening of its continuing care neighborhood, Woodland Pointe. In addition to independent living, Lantern Hill's diverse services and care includes sub-acute rehabilitation, assisted living, memory care, and nursing care.

Woodland Pointe features 17 private, one-bedroom assisted living apartment homes, 28 private studio apartments within memory care, and outpatient rehabilitation available for independent living residents. In June 2017, 40 private suites opened, adding Medicare-approved skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to the community.

New Providence Mayor Al Morgan, local dignitaries, and more than 50 Lantern Hill residents, employees, and guests attended the celebration which included a ceremonial ribbon cutting, champagne toast, exclusive tours by Lantern Hill staff, as well as delicious hors d'oeuvres, dessert, and specialty drinks from Lantern Hill's Signature Dining.

Lantern Hill's on-site medical center is operated by Summit Medical Group, the largest and oldest physician-owned, multidisciplinary medical practice in New Jersey. With Summit Medical Group's experienced doctors and other medical professionals, residents have convenient, quality care right on campus.

"We are excited to celebrate the opening of our continuing care neighborhood and to bring high-quality health care options to seniors in Union County," said Lantern Hill's Executive Director Patricia Swan, who is also vice chair of the Suburban Chamber of Commerce and a member of the New Providence Lions Club. "Lantern Hill's fantastic and caring staff is dedicated to Erickson Living's person-centered care philosophy, which makes our community a premier provider in the New Jersey marketplace," said Swan.

"Our team is trained to focus on the whole person, not just a medical condition. We work with residents one-on-one and evaluate individual's physical, spiritual, and emotional needs to develop an individualized care plan," said Director of Continuing Care and Associate Executive Director Jerry McDonald.

Continuing care at Lantern Hill makes it possible for people who value their independence to obtain some extra support with daily needs like light housekeeping, meal preparation, bathing, or medication management. The neighborhood's intimate setting enables staff to cater services to each person's need and requests.

Residents can choose from a variety of activities that suit their interests, such as chair yoga and tai chi, mind-word games to stimulate the brain and memory, social clubs, movie nights, musical programs, educational speaker series, pet therapy, and outings into the greater local community for shopping and dining.

Lantern Hill's continuing care neighborhood features design details such as light-filled inviting living areas offering the comforts of home, plus a salon/spa, and creative arts studio. Assisted living and memory care apartment homes include large bathrooms, ample storage and closet space, and beautiful views of the scenic campus.

The opening of Woodland Pointe completes Lantern Hill's Phase One, which includes 161 independent living apartments and 85 continuing care residences. Phase Two, currently under construction, is scheduled to open in early 2018 and consists of two additional buildings, which will add 114 independent living apartments to the community, for a total of 275 independent living apartment homes.
