Eagle's Trace Residents Look Forward to a New Year of Worry-Free Living

Residents of Eagle's Trace in West Houston will enjoy a maintenance-free lifestyle in 2024.

"I'm looking forward to another year of making new friends while enjoying all that Eagle's Trace has to offer," says Barbara Turboff of the Erickson Senior Living community in West Houston, Tex.

Like Barbara, many Eagle's Trace residents find that their satisfaction stems from the community's vibrant, worry-free lifestyle.

With more time to explore interests and hobbies and an environment that supports meaningful social connections, it's no wonder why these retirees are ready to make the most of 2024!

Pursuing passions

Since moving to Eagle's Trace in 2022, Barbara has participated in a range of activities and joined several groups, including the jewelry making club and the line dancing club.

"I still feel like a new resident!" she jokes. "Thanks to my maintenance-free apartment home, I'm able to pursue my passions."

The convenient and predictable monthly service package, which covers everything from appliance repairs and utilities to a meal plan at on-site restaurants, helps residents focus on what's important to them. For Barbara, it's making jewelry.

"I've been creating handmade jewelry for 30 years now," she says. "When I saw that Eagle's Trace offers a jewelry making club, I was sold. We sell all the pieces we make, but proceeds benefit the Scholarship Fund for young staff members."

Sales also benefit the Resident Care Fund, which assists eligible residents who, through no fault of their own, outlive their resources.

Although line dancing is a new interest for Barbara, it has fostered great joy in her life--which she loves sharing with others.

"It's rewarding to see the happiness in residents' eyes when we perform," she notes. "In the past, we've performed at the Christmas Follies show and the Diversity and Belonging Fair held on campus. We visit other retirement communities from time to time as well."

With more free time and a long list of activities to try, Barbara is poised to make 2024 her best year yet!

Ringing in new amenities

Like Barbara, residents Joyce and David Jackson are excited for another engaging year. Even though they moved to Eagle's Trace in 2006, just one year after the community opened, they still find new activities to explore--especially with the addition of Cardinal Run and Mockingbird Plaza.

"Both of the new developments are wonderful," Joyce says.

"Erickson Senior Living invests in its communities," says Stephen Aigner, executive director at Eagle's Trace. "Over the course of the next few years, communities will benefit from over $500 million in upgrades and renovations, and we are excited to be able to see the results of those enhancements here."

Cardinal Run and Mockingbird Plaza, the community's newest independent living residence buildings, bring even more amenities for residents to enjoy.

"In 2024, residents will be able to dine at two new restaurants and join friends for a cocktail at The Perch, a lakeside bar," says Aigner. "Residents appreciate how the community continues to evolve to meet their needs. With our growth and an abundance of new amenities, there's never been a better time to live at Eagle's Trace!"

Lots to love

In the 18 years they've called Eagle's Trace home, Joyce and David have found lots to love.

"One of the greatest joys I've had in the last year has been learning to play mah-jongg," says Joyce. "And I'm playing American mah-jongg, which is a harder one. I've decided that it's the best way to improve my brain health."

She continues, "When friends come to visit and see the beautiful flowers by the gate and the delightful landscaping, they comment that it's like we're living at a country club. But then other people will walk into the lobby and hear David playing the piano and comment that it's like living on a cruise ship. So, we feel like we have the best of both worlds--living at a country club on a cruise ship!"

What stands out the most for the couple, though, is the community's worry-free lifestyle.

"We're dedicated to helping residents live better lives," says Aigner. "Because activities, clubs, and amenities are just steps away from residents' apartment homes, they're able to be as active as they want."
