May 10, 2022
Avery Point Executive Director Todd DeLaney

Erickson Senior Living, a national leader in developing and managing continuing care retirement communities, has named Todd DeLaney as Avery Point's first executive director. DeLaney will oversee daily operations for Avery Point, which will open its scenic 94-acre campus in Short Pump, Va., in fall 2022.

“Throughout his career, Todd has demonstrated a genuine passion for creating an exceptional resident experience and developing high-performing and engaged teams,” says Debra Doyle, chief operating officer at Erickson Senior Living. “His inclusive leadership style and extensive management and operational expertise will play a key role in helping Avery Point be an outstanding retirement destination in Goochland County.”

DeLaney started his career with Erickson Senior Living 17 years ago and has held a variety of leadership positions at multiple Erickson Senior Living communities. Most recently, he served as executive director of Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains, N.J. Before this role, he served as executive director and associate director at Seabrook in Tinton Falls, N.J., and director of continuing care and associate executive director at Brooksby Village in Peabody, Mass. He has also served as a regional operations manager for Erickson Senior Living at the corporate headquarters in Catonsville, Md., and as a project manager at Cedar Crest. He received his MBA in health care administration from Seton Hall University and a bachelor's degree from Springfield College.

“It's an honor to join the Avery Point team and be part of bringing the incredible Erickson Senior Living lifestyle to more seniors in Central Virginia," says Todd DeLaney, executive director. “We look forward to creating a community that is an outstanding place to live and work and to delivering the highest standard in customer services.”

Avery Point is Erickson Senior Living's 21st community and third in Virginia—the others being Ashby Ponds and Greenspring in Northern Virginia. Floor plans, most with a patio or balcony, are custom-designed and offer a variety of luxurious features, including open, airy layouts, contemporary fixtures and 9' ceilings. On-site conveniences will include an all-season aquatics and fitness center, restaurants, theater, salon and day spa, classrooms, a library and an on-site medical center.

The senior living community is poised for long-term success, as reflected in its first phase being sold out quickly and its second phase reservations also filling up fast.
