It's your dream home.

But what will make your experience at Avery Point even better? The top-notch staff members who make everything happen!

Erickson Senior Living strives to hire, retain, and promote the best people in the business, and residents at Avery Point enjoy the benefits first-hand.

Helping hands

Nelda and Paul Marecki were thrilled with Avery Point's staff long before they moved in.

That's by design, according to Avery Point's Executive Director Todd DeLaney. "We made it a goal to 'create community' before the community was even open," he says. "Future residents had opportunities to meet one another and forge friendships through special events, such as an ice cream social and virtual and in-person happy hours. Our staff worked diligently to make these events happen."

Sales Manager Kailey Viray also helped some future residents, including Nelda, create clubs that catered to their interests and hobbies.

Nelda notes that Viray was extremely resourceful in helping her start the Fiber Arts Group, which welcomes those who knit, crochet, quilt, and cross-stitch. "I would check with her to make sure that the activities room was available," says Nelda. "She did whatever she could to make us feel at home and comfortable when we met."

Nelda and her husband have found that the rest of the staff is always kind and accommodating as well. "I think they're excellent! We've had a lot of questions, and everybody has been responsive. We've been very pleased," says Nelda.

"My impression of the staff has been positive," agrees Paul, who says that DeLaney and Sales Director Jim Antonakos have offered to help him establish a woodworking group at the community.

Avenues of growth

In the two years that Executive Assistant Christy Hall has worked at Avery Point, she's held multiple positions. Why? Because at Erickson Senior Living, employees are encouraged to use the experience they gain to help them find the position that is the best suited for their skills and interests.

"I liked working in sales, but I wanted to be able to work directly with residents on an ongoing basis," explains Hall. "So, when a position opened up in Avery Point's executive office, I jumped on it. I'm always up for a new challenge!"

"Erickson Senior Living creates an environment where employees can grow personally and professionally. She was ready to make a difference in other ways, and we supported her decision," says DeLaney. "Finding new avenues to help residents gives our work purpose."

Hall notes that her new role has already led to lots of relationship building.

"I'm able to help residents transition smoothly, making them feel welcome here, and helping them adjust to their new home - I think that's really great," she says.

'Best in the business'

Providing an excellent resident experience that promotes overall well-being is what Erickson Senior Living is all about.

"Senior living should be considered a destination for career-driven people who possess a passion for serving others," notes Alan Butler, CEO of Erickson Senior Living. "We continue to innovate and train our workforce because the services we offer to residents are only as good as the people who provide them. I am confident that we have the best in the business working for Erickson."

DeLaney strongly supports Butler's sentiment.

"We have many diverse career paths that allow employees to continue and advance, learn new skills, seek new challenges, and really broaden our influence," he says.

Shaping the culture

Currently, residents and staff members are seeking out ways in which they can collaborate to shape the community's culture - to ensure that Avery Point will be an amazing place to live and work for years to come.

While Hall says she's not completely sure what role she'll have in ten years, she will definitely stay with Erickson Senior Living.

"I love the company," she says. "Its mission and its values have been instilled in me, and the relationships I've fostered with residents are so precious. I don't want to give this up!"
