Wind Crest’s Sheryl Alcorn is the Recipient of Erickson Senior Living’s Leadership Award

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (April 12, 2017) – Sheryl Alcorn, Wind Crest's Regional Director of Practice Administration, is the recipient of Erickson Living's 2016 Leadership Award. This award recognizes her management vision and her ability to motivate and inspire the people around her to go above the call of duty.


The award also recognizes her daily demonstration of Erickson Way Values: Respect and Caring, Diversity, Friendliness and Enthusiasm, Integrity, Responsibility, Excellence and Teamwork. She was honored at Erickson Living's Annual Meeting held in Baltimore, MD.


Accountability and metrics are very important to Sheryl.  She constantly is monitoring how her team is progressing and identifying what areas need focus. Supporting four Erickson Living communities, she has a commitment to operational excellence and shares best practices among them.


Sheryl actively shares responsibility, authority, information and credit when working toward the achievement of a goal. She is fair and direct in coaching employees.


Sheryl was born in Denver, CO, where she has spent her entire life. A graduate of Green Mountain High School, her path to Regional Director of Practice Administration has been a circuitous one. She attended travel school, and worked in the hospitality industry for several years, before becoming an Executive Assistant for a Capital Investment firm.


After that, she got her first taste of medical administration as the business manager of a large orthodontic practice. From there, she went to be the community outreach director for a local charter school, where she quickly advanced to Director of Operations and Interim Director.


As her family started to grow, Sheryl redirected her energies in a more homeward direction, but, always needing to take on new challenges, she became a certified fitness instructor, and a Zumba Instructor. This is where she discovered her real passion for working with the elderly, and quickly enrolled in college and earned her degree in Healthcare Administration.


She then held several positions at Covenant Village Senior Living, and was an Assisted Living Coordinator at Sunrise Senior Living. Finally, all her varied experiences came together when she was tapped to be the Practice Manager at Wind Crest, which quickly became Practice Administrator, and, most recently, Regional Director of Practice Administration.  She has held her Nursing Home Administrators license since October 2013.


Sheryl has been married to her husband, Michael, for 22 years, and they have three incredible children: Lizzie, 21, Cassie, 15, and Joey, 10. They all live in Arvada, CO.
