Working at Siena Lakes is Beneficial in So Many Ways

January 16, 2024

While earning her dual degree in finance and business management from Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), Elyssa Emmett was sure she wanted to work in wealth management. Until, that is, she took an internship in it.

“I knew after it was over that I needed more interaction with people,” she says. That’s one of the reasons that the following summer, Emmett came to Siena Lakes, the Erickson Senior Living community located in Naples, Fla.

During those three months, she explored a number of departments in the community, and a position in the finance department opened up just as her internship was ending.

“Everything just kind of fell into place,” says Emmett. Through her senior year, she worked part-time at Siena Lakes, and upon graduating in May, 2023, she began working full-time as the Accounting Office Coordinator.

“One of the things that I really enjoy is the family aspect we have here,” she says. And she also loves the plethora of benefits that employees receive.

Back to school

Emmett has already begun earning her MBA also at FGCU and is taking advantage of Erickson’s generous tuition reimbursement program.

“The tuition reimbursement was definitely an incentive for me to earn my advanced degree. And I was already in the routing of school,” she says.

“At Erickson, we care about the growth and development of the entire person. Our greatest resource is the team members who make it happen for our residents every day, and we want them to become the best version of themselves,” says Siena Lakes Executive Director Mike McCormick. “Over my 28 years with Erickson, I’ve had the good fortune of seeing countless team members utilize our tuition reimbursement to expand their educational horizons and well-being programs to live their best lives.”

Erickson Vice President of Human Resources adds, “Our team members embrace the culture and utilize their talents to help residents and each other live better lives. In turn, Erickson Senior Living recognizes the invaluable contributions that employees make and provides a robust package of benefits that reflect our commitment to financial stability, health and well-being, and work-life balance.”

Some of these benefits include multiple health care plans and choices (medical, dental, vision), 401K with company match, generous paid time off (sick, personal leave, and vacation plus paid volunteer hours), discount programs, pet insurance, and much more.

With co-workers, Emmett has used paid volunteer hours, that Erickson gives to employees on a yearly basis, to pack food for families in need at the local Harry Chapin Food Bank. She’s now organizing future volunteer opportunities for staff and residents.

“It’s great to get out in the community and give back in different way, and to kind of rally as a team together,” says Emmett. “I think for volunteer hours and for the other types of paid time off, Erickson is very generous in what they give us!”
