Residents and chefs cook up delicious dishes during friendly competition on campus.

On July 17, Seabrook's Top Chef Competition drew a big crowd of more than 70 residents, staff, and family members. Teams consisting of one chef and one resident at the developed and managed Erickson Living retirement community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, had 30 minutes to create the tastiest dish from a mystery basket of ingredients that included sea bass, scallops, asparagus, capellini, tomatoes, capers, and a variety of fresh spices.

After tasting the delicious dishes and a tough deliberation, the judges crowned resident Maureen Sullivan and Chef Scott Sherman as the Top Chef winner for their delightful Seafood Fra Diavolo. In addition to receiving prizes, the team's recipe will be prepared by Seabrook's chefs and served at a campus restaurant this summer.

During the event, audience members cheered on their favorite team, competed in a Food Trivia contest for prizes, and enjoyed refreshments.

The competition was judged by Executive Director Paula Digerness, Director of Finance Neal Fiore, and resident Alan Clarin.

"What a wonderful event that showcased our residents and talented chefs from all three restaurants on campus," said Director of Dining Services Mary Beth Sheehan. "This was our second year, and we plan on continuing the tradition each year to bring together our staff and residents for a friendly competition, fun, and socializing."
