Ten local high school students preparing to turn their tassels were recently named Student Scholars at Riderwood, the Erickson Senior Living community in Silver Spring, Md.
These select student workers, who held positions as servers, hosts, and hostesses across the community’s on-campus restaurants, displayed an unwavering commitment to service and excellence.
To qualify for a four-year scholarship, a student must work 1000 hours during a two-year period, maintain good academic and professional standing, and plan to attend a college, university, or trade school on a full-time basis (at least 12 credit hours per semester).
“Our student workers acknowledge how impactful these scholarships are,” says Philanthropy Manager Maria Aghguiguian. “Thank you to all the residents who donated! These awards set our student workers up for success.”
In addition, the Adult Learner Scholarship, a one-year scholarship was given to 51 college students who tirelessly balance their work schedule at Riderwood and hours of coursework.
To recognize their dedication and propel their promising futures, community residents generously donated over $311,000 to support the Student Scholar and Adult Learner program —awarding the scholars the opportunity to receive up to $3000 per semester.
“The Student Scholar and Adult Learner awards are just two ways that Riderwood supports mission-driven team members who are eager to further their education,” notes Aghguiguian. “We strive to make Riderwood a great place to live and work!”
