BETHESDA, Md. – Community leaders, residents, and neighbors gathered Wednesday to celebrate the opening of Rock Spring Park on Fernwood Road. This new public park expands recreation and green space in Bethesda through a partnership between Erickson Senior Living and Montgomery Parks.
The almost 2-acre park features playgrounds, outdoor fitness equipment, walking paths, a shaded gathering plaza with ping-pong tables, swings, and open green space designed for children, older adults, families, and neighbors to gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors together.

The Park was created as part of the development of The Grandview, Erickson Senior Living’s newest continuing care retirement community, which opened last year and offers independent living, resort-style amenities, and a full continuum of health care for older adults in Montgomery County.

“We’re proud to partner with Montgomery Parks to create a space that will serve the entire community,” said Will Nance, executive director of The Grandview. “Rock Spring Park is a place where neighbors of all ages can gather, stay active, and enjoy the outdoors for years to come.”
Montgomery County Councilmember Kate Stewart said the park is a welcome addition to the community.

“Today was my first day to get a good look at the park, and I am just amazed. Multiple generations can really enjoy this park, from our youngest residents to some of our oldest residents. I want to thank Erickson Senior Living for this great asset in our community,” Stewart said.
The Park's opening was celebrated with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and ice cream, a fitting way to mark the opening of a playground where children quickly made themselves at home.

The park is located at 10350 Fernwood Road and is open to the public daily from sunrise to sunset.
