Devonshire Residents Value Membership at The Updated PGA National Resort

Over the last year, PGA National Resort underwent an extensive $100 million transformation and revitalization.

"I believe that all of the improvements and membership to PGA's resources greatly enhance our lives at Devonshire," says community member Philip Fishman.

Long list of amenities

On its own, Devonshire has a myriad of amenities, including an outdoor pool and hot tub, state-of-the-art fitness center, regulation croquet court, putting green, five restaurants, a cinema, and a performing arts theater.

But with the new upgrades to PGA National Resort, Devonshire's vibrant, worry-free lifestyle is truly unmatched.

"I recently attended a tour given by Joyce Laurien, the senior director of sales and marketing at PGA National Resort," says Hansen. "All of the updates and new additions are stunning, offering everything from new restaurants to a beautiful new spa and a complete renovation to the members-only clubhouse."

The revitalization of PGA National Resort began with reimagining the interior design. A 1960's Palm Beach-chic theme, including lively colors and patterns, has been infused into all pieces of décor. The renovated lobby and bar area now feature two eye-catching chandeliers, which resemble upside down palm leaves, and a large handblown glass replica of a banyan tree, illuminated by more than 1,500 LED lights.

The 40,000-square-foot spa at the resort was redesigned by V Starr, the West Palm Beach interior design company headed by tennis star Venus Williams. Now, Devonshire community members can enjoy the 1950's inspired barbershop, a couple's treatment room, two Himalayan salt rooms, and three mineral pools.

And for those looking to soak up the Florida sun, the resort's outdoor pool deck will include a Lazy River encircling the hotel upon completion.

"Devonshire community members have so much at their fingertips," says Hansen. "They worked hard for their retirement, and now they get to make the most of it."

Friendly competition

Because the resort is known for its premier golf courses, it was only fitting to reimagine those as well.

Two new courses, designed by Andy Staples, have created unique challenges for even the most experienced golfers. The Match course encourages friendly competition between players and the Staple course, built on top of the old Squire course, has nine holes with unexpected curves and slopes.

"For me, the best part of my PGA membership is the ability to play golf with no green fees," says community member Inder Sethi. "The five courses - one of which is a championship course where the Honda Classic Tournament is held every year - are always in excellent shape. I have not come across any other continuing care retirement community that offers such a variety for golf."

Inder notes that he also enjoys playing croquet on the resort's five well-maintained courts.

The resort's Sports and Racquet Club was updated to include two new additional pickleball courts, bringing the resort's total to six. The club now also boasts a five-lane, saltwater lap pool; expansive cardio and weight training rooms; two aerobic studios; and a spin room with video monitors.

A food frenzy

Devonshire's foodies are sure to love the resort's new restaurants headed by celebrity chefs.

Jeremy Ford, Top Chef Season 13 winner and executive chef at Stubborn Seed in Miami, leads The Butcher's Club, a modern steakhouse. The Carrera Farms Swinging Tomahawk steak and Wagyu filet mignon have become quick fan favorites.

Fellow Top Chef alumna Lindsay Autry, known for her southern cooking, is excited to take charge at Honeybelle, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests' dinner favorites include Autry's signature fried chicken, Florida red snapper, and Florida clam and trofie pasta.

"My wife Manju and some of her friends have enjoyed lunch at Honeybelle," says Inder. "She said the menu was varied, the prices were quite reasonable, and the service was excellent."
