Whether you're visiting Maris Grove, the Erickson Senior Living community in the Brandywine Valley of Pennsylvania, for the first time or have been on the Priority List for years, you're bound to meet Julia Amadio and Tara DiCarlo.
Both joined the community's sales team as sales associates in September 2023. While they each have different responsibilities, Julia and Tara specialize in helping future residents with their moving process.
We get to know you
Julia, a graduate of West Chester University of Pennsylvania, has an outgoing personality and honed her customer services skills as a teenager while waiting tables.
"I enjoy getting to know people and sparking conversation," she says. "I love having someone come through the door and discuss how they will thrive living here at Maris Grove."
Whether a prospective resident wants to increase their physical activity or social interaction, Julia notes that Maris Grove has an activity or amenity for them. "Here at Maris Grove, you can do as much as you want or as little as you want," she says.
The community boasts an impressive number of amenities, including an indoor aquatics center, fitness center, performing arts center, and craft studio and woodshop, as well as restaurants, salons and day spa, and a medical center with visiting specialists.
Priority List perks
Julia's favorite part of her role is curating complimentary overnight Live the Life experiences for Priority List members.
She coordinates their stay in a fully furnished apartment home and introduces them to current residents who have similar hobbies. Guests are also encouraged to enjoy meals in the on-campus restaurants and attend activities and club meetings they're interested in.
"They get a feel for what life is really like at Maris Grove by trying it out for a day or two," Julia says.
She adds that resident ambassadors play a big part in this process, as many volunteer to greet visiting Priority List members and help guide them through their decision.
"I love getting to know everyone. It especially helps me make introductions between current and prospective residents," Julia says. "Helping to make what might become lifelong connections is rewarding."
In addition to the Live the Life experience, Priority List members gain right of first refusal on their desired apartment home, access to personalized planning and moving support, and invites to exclusive social and informational events.
The next step
Once someone experiences Maris Grove and decides it's the community for them, they'll work with Tara to reserve their apartment home.
Tara, who graduated from Neumann University in Aston, Pa., has worked at Maris Grove in various departments since July 2019, but she feels as though her latest role as sales associate is a perfect fit.
Like her colleague, Tara strongly believes in the vibrant Erickson Senior Living lifestyle and enjoys seeing people thrive after moving in.
"Maris Grove provides peace of mind," she says.
"Everything that you could need is here: There's the medical center, restaurants, clubs, and activities. I truly believe it makes people live longer lives with higher quality. They're active, they're social, they're living their best life. I see how life here makes people thrive."
Recently, a couple who was tired of increasing upkeep around the house worked with Tara to reserve a maintenance-free apartment home.
"Without having to worry about their house, they have more free time. Now, she uses the fitness center and he uses the woodshop. They're also able to get around easily with our transportation and enjoy life more fully," she says. "They completely flourished and are thriving! Seeing them come here and release all that stress and worry has been rewarding for me."
A-team
In addition to Julia and Tara, the Maris Grove sales team has a staff of professionals ready to answer questions and offer assistance.
Sales Counselors Renee Passman and Kimberly Dill provide personal assistance in choosing the right apartment home. Sales Associate Nicole Nance, along with Tara, Julia, and Senior Sales Associate Colleen Daly, ensure that no stone is left unturned and the moving process goes smoothly.
Planning and Moving Consultant Jan Schechter provides moving, real estate, and downsizing guidance. For example, she might recommend a preferred moving company, real estate agent, or move manager.
Expert leadership
Overseeing this team of hardworking professionals is Sales Manager Caroline Bickel.
"We've helped so many people through this process," says Tara. "I always tell prospective residents that it's important to trust the team you're working with. We have a lot of experience and are very good at our jobs. And we love what we do!"
