Employees of Fox Run in Novi, Michigan can take advantage of an array of benefits to advance their careers.

Nearly five years ago, Madison Lapum began working full-time for the medical center at Fox Run, the Erickson Senior Living community located in Novi, Mich. But it wasn’t her first time as an employee of the community. In 2013 while in high school, Lapum was a student server in the dining department.

And she loved it.

“From day one, I had such a passion working with the residents. Seeing all our residents thriving and being active is great,” says Lapum. “I also value the teamwork with my colleagues and Erickson’s mission to help others!”

Career advancement

After working for two years in the dining department, Lapum earned her degree in healthcare administration from the University of Toledo. But she wasn’t sure what she wanted to do after graduating.

Having been familiar with Fox Run since she was a little girl--as her dad was the first sales director of the community and her grandparents were residents--she had taken an internship during the summer prior to her senior year in college working in the medical center.

Near the end of college in 2019, Lapum applied for and was hired as an Operations Associate in the Erickson Medical Health Group. When the Practice Administrator went on maternity leave in March of 2020, Lapum was encouraged to fill in for her. In November of that year, she became the Associate Practice Administrator. Just two years later, Lapum was promoted to Practice Administrator—the position she still holds.

“I truly would not be where I am today without the support and the teamwork of my executive team, the leaders at the community level, and those at the home office level. Everyone pulled together to help me become the best leader I possibly can,” Lapum says. “They are always so willing to take the time to help me learn and grow. Erickson always wants to see their young leaders thrive and move up in the company.”

In addition to offering in-house mentoring, training, and encouragement, Erickson also offers tuition reimbursement for employees to further their education in colleges or universities.

Countless benefits

“Our team members embrace the culture and utilize their talents to help residents and each other live better lives,” says Nicole Walker, Chief Human Resources Officer. “In turn, Erickson Senior Living recognizes the invaluable contributions that employees make and provides a robust package of benefits that reflect our commitment to financial stability, health and well-being, and work-life balance.”

Some of these benefits include multiple health care plans and choices (medical, dental, vision), 401K with company match, generous paid time off (sick, personal leave, and vacation in addition to paid volunteer hours), discount programs, pet insurance, and much more.

“The benefits Erickson offers are above and beyond. The paid leave time is outstanding. Erickson also reminds employees that not only do they matter, but so do their families,” says Lapum. “I love working here.”
