Eagle's Trace Residents "Go Green" Year-Round

HOUSTON, TX---Earth Day falls annually on April 22nd, but residents of Eagle's Trace have made "going green" a year-round endeavor.
The Erickson Living retirement kicked-off its 2014-15 recycling initiative, "Plant a Notion," on August 4th.
The project is designed for residents and employees to share tangible ways to be good stewards of the environment by writing ideas on the "leaves" of a tree-shaped display designed and created by Ed Hulyk, a resident of Eagle's Trace. 
The initiative is sponsored by the Resident Life Committee, and the suggestions garnered from "Plant a Notion" will be shared at a future town hall meeting.
As part of "Plant a Notion," Eagle's Trace welcomed Harry Hayes, Chief Operating Officer of the City of Houston and Director of the city's Solid Waste Management Department, a position he's held since August 2007.  Mr. Hayes described the city's recycling programs and invited residents to take a tour of those facilities in the  future.  He commended residents for being forward thinkers in environmental protection.
Eagle's Trace is planning four activities to promote conservation, including a clothing drive partnership with the Salvation Army, medical supply and eyeglass collection, electronics recycling and a paper shredding event. 
Dennis Gregg leads the Resident Life Committee at Eagle's Trace.   "Most of us have children, and many of us have grandchildren.  Those family connections make us sensitive to saving the planet so future generations can enjoy it like we have," stated Mr. Gregg.  "We look forward to our four recycling events and believe residents of Eagle's Trace will participate at a high level."
