Eagle's Trace Residents Connect with Mobile Technology

HOUSTON, TX--- Ruth Herman, a resident of Eagle's Trace retirement community, is no stranger to technology.  The 86-year old retiree uses a tablet for connecting with the world, an e-book reader for traveling, a smart phone for texting family members and a NetFlix account for entertainment.
She started years ago with a Texas Instrument computer and has never shied away from gadgets.  Her day still begins with "turning on the computer and ends with turning it off."
So attending the AT&T Reconnect Tour's Senior TechRALLY™, hosted by the West Houston retirement community on November 30th, was a natural fit for Mrs. Herman.
From tablet-savvy seniors to smart phone newcomers, residents and guests of Eagle Trace had the opportunity to test the latest mobile technology devices on November 30th.  The event was part of AT&T's 15-city tour that offers seniors a fresh perspective on smart phones, tablets and wireless technology.
The five-hour demonstration featured interactive workshops in small group settings for the eighty attendees.  Led by ten information technology specialists, a wide range of topics was covered, including text messaging, apps, video calling, e-books and photo sharing.
"The Senior TechRALLY was terrific," described Mrs. Herman.  "I am relatively new to using a tablet so I learned quite a bit.  The workshops were the perfect size to try out the tech items, and the instructors were very knowledgeable."
