Five Questions with… Gayle Hills from Devonshire at PGA National

June 17, 2019

Palm Beach Gardens, FL --  Gayle Hills has been with Erickson Living for 15 years working at two communities.  Since moving down to Florida to work at Devonshire at PGA National, an Erickson Living managed retirement community in Palm Beach Gardens, FL she has worked hard to give back to many in the community.  Gayle spoke recently about her career with Erickson Living:

How long have you been with Erickson Living?

Gayle:   15 Years!  I was at Brooksby Village, an Erickson Living developed and managed retirement community in Peabody, MA for 10 years and now Devonshire for 5 years.

Talk about some of the positions you have had at Brooksby Village and Devonshire:

Gayle: I started as an Executive Assistant and while in this role my Executive Director encouraged me to utilize the employee tuition program and go to college. Because of this I earned three degrees finally landing on a Masters of Organizational Management.  While earning my degrees,  I was promoted at Brooksby Village into the General Services department to oversee the Communication Specialists at all of the desks. From there I took on the role of Customer Services Manager and started to do small projects with the Facilities team. In 2014, I had the chance to relocate to Florida and work at Devonshire at PGA National.  At Devonshire, I have been working with families to create their dream homes.  I was recently promoted to Reoccupancy Manager where I oversee the department and I am the Project Manager for the community.

Since moving to Palm Beach Gardens and working at Devonshire you have been involved with giving back to the community.  Who have you helped locally?

Gayle:  I love to give back as much as I can and this year I participated in a  few events with my local Church Christ Fellowship over the holidays to help families in need.  At work, I organized a group of community members to take up a collection for some sailors that had been deployed overseas. With help from other staff member we also have been able to donate some fire extinguishers and stoves to some local business in need that help with the homeless and also the Place of Hope.

Are you working with any local groups now?

Gayle:  The community members love giving back to the community and would love to send more items to sailors overseas again this year.

What do you like most about working at Devonshire?

Gayle:   The community members are family to me. They all become such a wonderful part of your life and I love to hear their stories.  I cannot leave out the fantastic staff that we have here also. We have such a great team and they make working at Devonshire such a wonderful experience.
