“I would like to do a ‘shout-out' to all of our staff,” says Nancy DeSantis, a community member. “It's been one year since the world was affected by this virus. I often thought how my life would have been had I been living in my former residence trying to take care of my needs. More specifically, how would I have dealt with going to grocery stores for food and necessary supplies? Our culinary department didn't miss a beat. When our dining rooms opened, we were asked to make reservations. On the other end answering the phone were Joe, Ana, Kaitlyn, Crystal, and Jazz, always answering with a friendly tone.”
Neighbor Elena Portoles agrees. “It wouldn't be fair of me to designate any particular employee for their outstanding service,” she says. “We consider everyone here our heroes. Everyone has done so much for us. The culinary staff provided us with meals every day for a year—delivering to our homes and walking miles each day from apartment to apartment. The activities department also did a wonderful job providing us with unique entertainment on our in-house TV channel, puzzle packs with our menus, movies in the theater, and a variety of games.”

Earlier this year, 90% of community members received COVID-19 vaccinations through a variety of well-orchestrated vaccine clinics held on the Devonshire campus.
“I recently celebrated my fifth anniversary at Devonshire and will soon will celebrate my 15th at Erickson Senior Living,” says Wingardner. “2020 is the year I am most proud of in my 25 years serving seniors. The proactive approach we took to combat COVID-19 and its impact on our residents, staff, and families was phenomenal.
