“Life is for service,” noted Fred Rogers of the beloved children's TV show Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. This statement also describes the unbeatable commitment of staff and management at Devonshire at PGA National, an Erickson Senior Living community at PGA National, in meeting, and exceeding, the needs of its residents.

Community members enjoy a distinct level of service embodied through dedicated staff members and a vast array of amenities and activities.

“Empowering our staff to go above and beyond to make a positive difference in our community members' lives yields tremendous results,” says Executive Director Jim Wingardner. “We are all committed to providing personalized attention and support while devising proactive and innovative approaches enabling us to exceed our residents' expectations.”

Powerful partnership

Each day, Devonshire staff members go above and beyond to create a distinct level of customer service that enables community members to live their lives to the fullest.

“I would like to do a ‘shout-out' to all of our staff,” says Nancy DeSantis, a community member. “It's been one year since the world was affected by this virus. I often thought how my life would have been had I been living in my former residence trying to take care of my needs. More specifically, how would I have dealt with going to grocery stores for food and necessary supplies? Our culinary department didn't miss a beat. When our dining rooms opened, we were asked to make reservations. On the other end answering the phone were Joe, Ana, Kaitlyn, Crystal, and Jazz, always answering with a friendly tone.”

Neighbor Elena Portoles agrees. “It wouldn't be fair of me to designate any particular employee for their outstanding service,” she says. “We consider everyone here our heroes. Everyone has done so much for us. The culinary staff provided us with meals every day for a year—delivering to our homes and walking miles each day from apartment to apartment. The activities department also did a wonderful job providing us with unique entertainment on our in-house TV channel, puzzle packs with our menus, movies in the theater, and a variety of games.”

On average, Erickson Senior Living-managed communities like Devonshire boast one employee to every three community members. The community's team of professionals are always available to support residents' needs, providing both peace of mind and excellent service.

Distinctive amenities

In addition to an unbeatable standard of excellence among Devonshire employees, community members enjoy a long list of outstanding amenities and services, including valet parking, concierge support, an in-house cable television station, state-of-the art fitness center, performing arts theater, swimming pool, croquet court, and five premium dining venues.

Community members at Devonshire also enjoy corporate membership privileges at the world-renowned PGA National Resort and Spa, including golf on any of its five PGA courses. Marty Bores, Devonshire's community resources manager, leads his team in providing exceptional activities, special trips, and entertainment for the entire community.

“Devonshire community members are living happier and healthier lives because of the personal connectedness and belonging they enjoy as a result of moving here,” he says. “Our goal is to help our residents thrive. As a result, every effort is made to celebrate community spirit while providing entertainment options that would not otherwise be available to our community members if they still lived in their former houses.”

Recently, the community resources team scheduled several local performers to perform poolside, as a creative, new way to provide our community members with top-notch, safe entertainment.

Early vaccine access

Earlier this year, 90% of community members received COVID-19 vaccinations through a variety of well-orchestrated vaccine clinics held on the Devonshire campus.

“I recently celebrated my fifth anniversary at Devonshire and will soon will celebrate my 15th at Erickson Senior Living,” says Wingardner. “2020 is the year I am most proud of in my 25 years serving seniors. The proactive approach we took to combat COVID-19 and its impact on our residents, staff, and families was phenomenal. Erickson Senior Living, our corporate partners, and our loyal vendors all worked together to save lives while keeping Devonshire community members fulfilled.”

Sharing the love

Never content to rest on their laurels, Devonshire management and staff members tirelessly continue to provide community members with the gold standard in retirement living. As a result, demand for this sought-after lifestyle is at an all-time high.
