Devonshire Provides a Collaborative and Rewarding Work Environment

A leader in the senior housing industry, Devonshire, an Erickson Senior Living community at PGA National, is the employer of choice for health care professionals eager to make a difference in the lives of residents, while enjoying competitive benefits and management support; unique training opportunities; and a sought-after work-life balance.

“We take great pride in fostering a culture of growth and development for our team members,” says Devonshire’s executive director Brad Andrus. “By providing both experience and incentives, we help our team members achieve ongoing career successes."

Moving to the U.S. from Haiti in 2012, Felisena Rosier began working at Devonshire, as a dining associate, the following year. It was here that she became interested in the field of nursing. With the full support of Devonshire management, and through hard work and determination, Felisena earned her certification as a certified nursing associate (CNA).

“Devonshire supported my efforts and hired me as a CNA as soon as I was certified,” says Felisena. “I worked as a CNA at Chatsworth (Devonshire’s continuing care neighborhood) for eight years.”

One reason Devonshire is considered a top workplace is by providing its employees with a work environment that encourages professional growth. This positive work culture has resulted in numerous health care team members being promoted into new and exciting roles.

While working as a CNA, Felisena attended college to become a registered nurse.

“I was nervous to tell my manager that I was going to school but I shouldn’t have been because she was so happy for me, even offering to sit with me and help me study,” she says. “I received so much support from everyone including my managers, nurses, and the residents.”

Since earning her RN license, Felisena was promoted to a float nurse at Chatsworth, enjoying the many advantages of flexible work hours.

“That flexibility began when I attended school and continues today,” she says. “I work a predictable schedule that allows me time with my husband and 10-year old daughter. And because I know when I’m working, as a family, we are able to plan accordingly. And asking for time off has never been a problem.”

For Felisena, one of the best parts of her career at Devonshire are the daily interactions she enjoys with residents and their families.

“For me, my work environment is the most important part,” she says. “I’ve learned a lot at Devonshire and it’s a good, positive environment to work in. This was my first job when I came to the U.S. and I’ve never wanted to leave. I’m fully supported by management and the residents and their families are wonderful. Many of them knew me as a CNA and have been so supportive of me as I became an RN. I always say, when you come to Chatsworth to work you gain a new family. This is not just a job. You really feel cared for like family.”
