Brooksby Village Students Celebrated at Community’s 20th Student Scholarship Ceremony

June 6, 2022

Peabody, Ma. - For high school seniors approaching graduation, these last few weeks are a time of reflection—to commemorate academic achievements and appreciate the value of relationships formed with teachers, coaches, friends, and mentors.

For student workers at Brooksby Village, an Erickson Senior Living community in Peabody, Ma, it also represents a chance to be recognized for their hard work and set up for success through four-year scholarships, funded by generous donations from community residents.

At the Student Scholar ceremony, 40 student workers were granted scholarships through the Student Scholarship Fund at Brooksby Village, which awarded a total of $480,000 worth of scholarships.  The value of each scholarship is $12,000 per student.

During the ceremony, there was also one recipient of a Working Scholars award, a one-year scholarship worth $12,000 for college students employed at Brooksby Village.

Five other private scholarships sponsored by residents of Brooksby Village were also awarded at the ceremony. The scholarships are worth just over $10,000.

Over the past 20 years, $5 million has been awarded to assist 534 students at Brooksby Village to advance their careers, according to Philanthropy Manager Hope Moore.  Students become eligible for the Brooksby Village Scholarship by completing 1000 hours of work here over a consecutive 2-year period.

“These students reflect the philosophy that our mission, helping others live better lives, is achieved one interaction at a time,” says Moore. “The energy that they bring to our residents and to each other is indescribable. We are proud of these recipients for their commitment to excellence—here, at Brooksby Village, and in their studies. In turn, we appreciate our residents for contributing to the fund and sharing their life experiences with all of the students.”
