The Kingsbury Clubhouse at Brooksby Village, an Erickson Senior Living community in Peabody, Mass., has a new look, as well as delicious dining options and lots of fun amenities!

"Erickson Senior Living continually invests in its communities," says Gina Fernandez, sales director at Brooksby. "We're committed to keeping our spaces looking top-notch and creating new dining experiences that residents--and future residents--will enjoy."

Rita Zielstorff, who lives in Kingsbury's adjoining Oxford Green residence building, is thrilled with the community's new offerings.

"Friends of mine are quite happy, and so am I!" says Rita. "We like the game room and enjoy the new tabletop shuffleboard. We also like the vibe in the new Cider House. It's a nice relaxed and informal atmosphere."

Bright spaces

"The lobby's new decor brings bright yet subtle hues, with pops of color from accent pieces and artwork," Fernandez says. "The quartz countertops and wood-like floor coverings bring a nice warmth to the area."

Expanded seating in the Kingsbury lobby allows friends and neighbors to gather round the focal fireplace for conversation, while club leaders utilize the adjacent workspace to plan agendas for upcoming meetings.

Outside, additional patio seating overlooks a cozy fire pit, relaxing water feature, and an airy garden pergola.

Rave reviews

Kingsbury's new Cider House and Harvest restaurants are serving up inventive, nutritious dishes in welcoming environments.

"Now, Cider House boasts open-concept dining and a new outdoor patio space. Indoor seating increased from 24 to 64 seats, with an additional 24 outside," notes Fernandez. "Word is, it's a resident favorite--both for the atmosphere and the menu!"

Dining General Manager Dana O'Keefe is just as excited. Both restaurants also include a larger private dining room, new lighting and furniture, and a state-of-the-art kitchen.

"We have been striving for more healthy options, so our new kitchen equipment doesn't include a fryer," O'Keefe explains. "We bake now--instead of fry or grill--with our high-tech, specialized ovens. The residents can't believe that the salmon and chicken are baked! It's pretty cool and very well received."

He adds, "The redesign has really made the restaurants brighter, more intimate, and more welcoming to diners."

Delicious dishes

For O'Keefe and the Dining Services team, the sky is the limit when it comes to creating new dishes.

"Inspired by the new restaurants, we've been playing around with a lot of new recipes," he notes. "At Cider House, we are oven-roasting chicken wings instead of frying them, and the feedback on our array of flatbreads has been great. A fan favorite is a cauliflower-crust flatbread."

Rita is just one of those many fans. "Whether you're looking for a flatbread pizza, a sandwich, or a more complete entrée, Cider House is the place to go to," she says.

Residents can also find popular Signature Dining dishes like French onion soup and New England baked haddock at Cider House.

"Changes are afoot at Harvest as well," O'Keefe says. "It was a buffet-style restaurant. Now, it's an intimate Signature Dining venue, featuring foods such as New York strip steak, scallops, and swordfish."

Sunday brunch includes favorites such as eggs Benedict, corned beef hash topped with poached egg, carved tenderloin, and prime rib.

Games galore

The lively atmosphere at Cider House and Harvest extends to the redesigned game room, where tabletop shuffleboard and card tables are always open.

Believe it or not, residents can also enjoy a game of golf in Kingsbury Clubhouse!

Rita--with help from staff and residents Ken Britt and Rand Peabody, leader of Brooksby's active golf group--was instrumental in deploying a high-tech golf simulator.

"We have a simulated golf range, plus a set of games like hitting closest to pin and making the longest drive," she says. "We also have game-improvement features, like skills assessment and bag mapping," which plots the yardage of each club in a golfer's bag.

Right- and left-handed clubs, balls, and tees are supplied, but golfers can bring their own.

"It's a great resource for buffing up skills before golf season starts," Rita says.

Looking ahead

With these modern upgrades and amenities, Brooksby is poised to offer an unmatched resident experience--now and for years to come.

"We are continually evolving. Prospective residents today are looking for outdoor dining, activities, amenities, and multipurpose spaces," Fernandez explains. "We're happy to meet that growing demand! Everything will help our residents enjoy active, engaging lifestyles."
